Ragnampiza (333) - Rome / Lecce, ITALY - APR 28, 2014
750 ml bottle from BG Birra, served in a pint glass. Dark copper/amber, quite clear, with an average light beige head. Good lacing. On the nose roasted malts, quality espresso coffee, light nuttiness, a hint of caramel and vanilla. Nicely balanced and quite hoppy in the mouth: initial herbal bitterness, followed by a nice roasted coffee component, before finishing with a caramel/nutty sweetness. There is a mild astringent/cardboardy note in the far background, almost like a Schwarzibier, but not at all unpleasent. Average carbonation, light to medium body, slightly oily texture. Excellent drinkability, for a 6.5% ABV beer, the alchool is totally masked. Very well done.

Cloudy dark brown color, compact head. Some aroma of coffee. Too much carbonation; dry mouthfeel; some roasted malt and coffee; correct bitterness.
Not bad.

750ml bottle. Clear reddish brown colour with samll, creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Dark malty aroma with a nuttily touch, some biscuit, a touch of red fruit, cautious hints of coffee in the background. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, notes of coffee, mocha, cautious dry hoppy overtones. Relatively light body, slightly thin, almost a bit watery.
