COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double amber malt produced by way of decoction, with approximately 6.5% alcohol by volume (17 Plato degrees). A small amount of Cassis syrup is added at the beginning of the fermentation with S. carlsbergensis. It is prematurely bottled to obtain high gas saturation, and matured for at least six months at a temperature of approximately 6-7 °C. As in the case of Amber Shock, this is not re-fermentation, but an exclusive procedure adopted by "Birrificio Italiano®" of Lurago Marinone .
Cassissona®" has been produced since 1999. It is made during the summer and served in wide-mouthed glasses with the appropriate dessert.

Bottle @ Italian tasting @ YNWA, Kolding. Pours a muddy pale deep orange with a gigantic bubbly white head. Okay lacing. Aroma is grapes, black currants and ligthly tart.Lively and fresh mouthfeel. Flavour begins malty sweet with fruity grapes, some apples and black currants. Finish is very dry with lots of hops at the end. Is this a wine or a beer? Still it is rather wonderful.

750ml from the Michael Jackson Beer Club (bottled January 2006). And a handsome bottle it is! The carbonation is pretty intense on this one, and it needed about 5 minutes to settle down. Nice deep copper pour beneath that massive head. The aroma initially suggested that the cassis was going to be too strong, possibly overpowering the dry champagne-like brew. But thankfully it turned out to be very subtly integrated. Crisp and fruity, with some nice woody notes like a good pinot grigio. Good stuff, much to my surprise.

750ml bottle thanks to jleblanc, much appreciated. For some reason I expected the color to be dark but it was a hazy orange-ish color with a super foamy head. The smell was weird, grains and such. The flavor was also weird, not tart and yet not sweet. Berries and stuff but also grains like the aroma. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 05-29-2010 17:28:43

First impressions when opening this are that it is nothing but fizz. At least I was warned about its desire to gush. Made it very hard to pour into the glass and detracted from the experience. Be prepared with a very large glass and all should be well. The beer pours with an amber color and a monster head. The aroma has hints of casis but is not overpowing. Balanced taste has plenty going on to keep you enterested although I would like a bit more fruit. Well worth trying.

On tap at the Blind Tiger. Pours a hazed golden orange with a medium sized white head. Soft fruit and malt, light plastic. Medium bodied, fruity but light, soft and gently sweet. Really subtle, very fine carbonation. Gentle fruit and tang on the finish. Nice, and much better than I had anticipated.

Bevuta in compagnia come aperitivo, a me è garabta parecchio. Diciamo qualcosa di diverso dal solito, molto spumantina al naso, mentre in bocca il malto torna protagonista. Il finale è lungo e delicato.

Huge, chewy malts blend well with the strong currants in the aroma. Opaque straw coloured body is topped by a generous and very long lasting, fine bubbled white head that sticks well to the side of the glass. Currants are strong in the flavour but never overwhelm the round and bready malt character. Medium body with lovely soft bubbled strong carbonation. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle. Need to follow up on purchase date but it’s at least two years old.

Bomber. Poured with a sweet and strong malt and fruit nose. Very Large Head here, the picture does not lie. Taste is full of random fruit and has some hops to go with the malt. This was a strange brew, enjoyable.

Sample at Indy tasting Dick’s BBQ 3/31/06 - Aroma of cotton candy, yeast, candi sugar, and berries. Pours yellow-brown with a huge head and great lacing. Flavor matches aroma with the berries taking the lead. Palate is tart and tangy. Different and tasty.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Pours slightly hazy amber with a bubbly 3-finger beige head. Mild black current aroma with a hint of herb. Suggests a belgian ale variant. Medium body with very frothy carbonation. Flavor starts very black current, then heads a bit towards citrus, then herb or wood, returning back towards bc. Interesting stuff. Not all that sweet, in fact hardly at all, finishing a bit acid/citric. Towards the end of the bottle I’m really liking it.
