Thanks John. The beer pours to a murky orange body with a frothy white head. The aroma is huge. Violets, roses, sour something, sweat. The flavor is delicate flowers, sweet/sour funk. Pineapple. The palate is tart, nice feeling. This is a great beer.

Thanks John for bringing the bottle: Hazy deep amber hue with a small frothy head and okay lacing. The aroma has notes of sour apple, brett-like funk, herbs and flowers, pepper, rye and dusty yeast esters. The taste is moderately sour and woody at first followed by a nice level of bitterness. The finish has a herbal and earthy quality. The mouth feel is dry and smooth and quite enjoyable. I liked it, a nice surprise for sure.

Pre-Great Taste sampling at 1FastSti’s house
Thanks to JPDIPSO for bringing this - it was the start of a nonstop barrage
of excellent beers that flowed for the rest of the night. I enjoyed this
one. The combination of funkiness and fruitiness made it fun to drink.
Aroma / Appearance - The murky peachy body fizzed up to a height of
one-finger at its highest. When it subsided, it left behind the smells of
a musty barn, sour peaches and smoked bacon. Hiding in the background was
a bit of spiciness waiting to be unleashed.
Flavor / Palate - A strong peachy impression floated through my mouth.
The mouthfeel was spicy and hoppy with a background of cherry, caramelized
sugar and a base earthiness. The aftertaste was slightly sweet and funky,
reminding me most of raspberries. It was very mild - I could drink many of
these on a warm day just to cool down.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 29, 2006
BCTC. Sampled from a big 1 liter bottle. Pours a cloudy medium amber/deep copper with a fizzy head. Aroma is very floral and fruity with hints of raspberries, roses, lily flowers, and other herbal notes. Light spice in the aroma, pepper yeast, fruity and herbal. High carbonation.

Had this one for a couple weeks, as it seems it’s now available in the US. 1L bottle. Pours a hazy orange with a huge creamy eggshell head. Aroma is sour fruits and a little funk--kinda saison-y, some floral aromas, misc spices. Flavor is quite tangy--maybe from the elderberry (I haven’t had elderberries in years, so I can’t remember their taste)? Some dust is also in there with some grassy hops, this doesn’t get very bitter. Biscuity finish. Very light bodied, highly carbonated. Nothing exceptional, but not bad by any means. In fact, pretty good.

Bottle from Super Saver. Hazy orangy pour with 2-finger off-white head. Aromas of hopcit, berries, some orange zest, and floral notes. The flavor is hopcitric, with the aforementioned berry and floral spicy notes, plus some malts in the background.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jimmack (1222) - Nutley, New Jersey, USA - JUL 6, 2006
Looks like I’m the first one outside of Italy to rate this beer. Big, 1 liter swingtop bottle. Hazy orange color with a medium off white head. Spicy, floral aroma with a bit of citrus and a touch of celery. Mildly tart flavor, with the spices and floral aspects somewhat muted. Citrusy and quite refreshing. Most who sampled this with me at the HW open house initially thought the beer kind of boring. After a while however, the beer started to become much more enjoyable. Perhaps it was due to the fact that it was 90 degrees outside and were drinking some big beers, but it was a nice change of pace.
