Pale with a yeasty earthy aroma - olives? Very earthy flavor with some sweetness. Notes aren’t very good - this was from a mass tasting.

Sampled on 2/3/07, thanks to boboski: Pours a transparent dark golden bronze with a fizzy, white, wispy-lacing head. Has a dry, earthy, bright floral aroma with a hint of sweetness and tartness. Body starts with an airy palate with some mild sweet and sour flavors with a touch of black pepper toward a thinner, drier floral finish. An interesting brew.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 SoLan (1550) - Florida, USA - FEB 18, 2007
Courtesy boboski. Orange/amber with a thin layer of ice grayish carbonation. Grainy, musty, earthy, peppery, lightly bitter, floral, lightly sweet. Very interesting brew. Unique. Medium body, balanced. Very nice.

Thanks to JK for bringing this unique brew. Very light refreshing saison style beer. Sour and some barnyard aromas. I believe this is more of an acquired taste, but I thought this was a decent effort. Some olive in the flavor, meat, cheese, yeast, very interesting and unique.

UPDATED: FEB 18, 2007 I thought it was a saison, and this is what I imagine saison used to be when it was intended as a refreshing beverage. Some acid in the aroma. Barnyard and horseblanket aroma. Sour, yeasty flavor. No alcohol in the nose or flavor, which is what I expected. I finished off the contents of the swing top bottle 6 days after first opening. The beer is still sour, but also has more of an earthy quality. It is brown and opaque with lots of sediment. This is good.

Pours a hazy golden color. Slightly sour nose with hints of a funky earthy aroma. The flavor is slightly off and gives a biscuity meets funky earthy flavor, with a hint of malty sweetness. An ok beer, but I wouldn;t buy it.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cornfield (5276) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - FEB 11, 2007
The body is a hazy light ambered toppede with a thick, well sustained solid head that does some fine lacing. The aroma is sweet and yeasty backed by scents of roses, citrus and dark fruits, honey, and hot spices. It has a complex merging of flavors, liberally spiced, and has a wheaty tartness to wrap it up. Dry finish. Refreshing and tasty.

Poured a hazy orange with chunky yeast floaties. The aroma was sweet with notes of flowers, spicey cracked pepper, orange skin, toast, and a hint of honey. Decent complexity. The flavor was sweet and almost ginger ale like. Spicey with a wet finish.

Pours a three-finger smooth off-white head that barely fades leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color, ton of yeast settles to bottom. Yeasty/citrusy nose. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Starts tart maybe an apple flavor, hard to pin down, finish is sour. Good bottle to split with your beer partner. Pricey - $16.99 for a 1L bottle from Tully’s Beer & Wine Wells, Me.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Kinz (3023) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - NOV 4, 2006
One big bottle, split with the spouse. Medium orangish color, nice head. Aroma a nice mix of floral, yeast, and dark fruits, quite complex. The flavor is highly intricate, much like the nose, with a definite thick floral bouquet thing going on, with a honey note coming through as well. Just a touch reminiscent of the Avery Saison. A bit of spice on the end cleans things up at the finish. I rather liked it, although it wasn’t an easy drinker by any means due to the complexity I was finding.
