3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, - AUG 15, 2010
Bottle from Domus Birrae, Rome The malts used include Maris Otter and Kristal; the hops are mainly East Kent Golding (from the label) Dark amber color, hazy, with red hue; generous head. The aroma is moderately hoppy, and then a bit fruity and yeasty; as promised, it’s quite British. Good body strength, smooth mouthfeel; strong caramel flavor, indeed quite sweet, like some American one; but this IPA is a direct evolution in line with the English style; there is good hopping, moderate bitterness, light fruity touch and light yeast character. The final is quite balanced, with caramel and light hop fruitness, and an increased yeast feeling. Very good, and also an original change from the American style IPAs.
