4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours hazy ruddy copper with a quarter finger tan head. Bubbles. Smells like chocolate. Medium body with foamy/creamy carbonation. Really tastes like chocolate. There’s a bit of heat. The malt is rather covered up by something like cacao nibs. Seems sugary in body, but the result is like bitter dark chocolate. There’s lurking heat, but it doesn’t even touch the throat. A very tasty and well crafted ale.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours ruby colored with a few lonely bubbles of carbonation. This beer was strong but not overpowering, and quite complex with notes of carmelized fruit, vinous malt, sherry, plum, spice and light chocolate. Full to heavy bodied, very light carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle - 330 ml) Amber pour with a creamy off-white head. Good malts in the aroma with some light hints of cocoa and nuts along with some caramel. Smooth and sweet flavor at the beginning with some nice malts and a light bitter note. Slightly oily finish. I was shocked to find out it was 12.5%. Definitely didn’t drink like it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at redlight redlight. Pours a deep rosy amber with a light tan head and good lacy legs. Very nice complex nose. notes of nut, caramel, and brandy. Surprisingly smooth for having such a high alcohol content. the flavor is actually a little bit lacking though not bad at all. a little sweet, a little boozy in the finish. an interesting barley wine.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared at beers of the world II. Aroma of orange peel and a citrussy iced tea. Pours hazy brown orange with minimal lacing. Taste is very pleasant with a chocolate covered orange note to it. The malts give it a bitter iced tea finish. I really liked this one. The alcohol is not noticeable at all.

Bottled. Dark amber almost burgundy coloured. Unclear. Small beige head. Plums, alcohol, sweetness, berries in the aroma. Flavour is sweet and full of light liqourice, herbs, spice alcohol and caramel. Medium to full bodied. Ends on a fruity and dry alcohol dense note. Nice.
