2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a translucent brown on task with thin tan head that dissipates to leave light lacing. Aroma is German yeast, sweet malt, and associated dark fruit esters. Taste is dark fruits and toasted malts, with a lingering burnt caramel flavor. Meh.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nice dark caramel to garnet in color with a head that wears a little too quickly. A little bitter for a doppelbock (for my taste), this German brew nonetheless has a pleasant and full malty character that lingers on the palate.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a dark ice tea color into a pilsner glass with a 2 finger head than lingers quite a bit. Interesting nose of root beer and sweet malts. Taste has some sweetness/cola up front with some mlt but has a really strong alcohol finish that I didn't much enjoy. So-so.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A - Pours a ruby dark brown. 2 finger off-white head.
S - Old bread with a sweet and sour malt. Burnt toffee. Dark cherries. Musty grain. Very earthy overall.
T - Toffee malt, pumpernickel crust. Sour grain adds an interesting twist. Raisins, toasted walnuts. Complex malt. It takes on completely different characteristics with varying temperatures. Muted red apple, pear and green grass
This is a very mysterious and complex Dopplebock. I can smell and taste the traveling miles in this beer. I can’t even begin to unravel the flavors. I think it makes for a very interesting take on the Dopplebock style. Don’t pass this up. It’s a trip.

500ml bottle [as "Doppelbock", thanx Roman]. Clear deep reddish glowing brown colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Dark malty aroma with a cautious caramel note, hoppy overtones. Taste is moderately dry dark malty. Expressionless, slightly boring Doppelbock.

(old notes) Bottled as Bischoff Premium Doppelbock in FL. Clear brown pour with a large, lasting white head. A lot of roasted malts, burnt sugar, dried fruit in the aroma. Taste is sweet up front, malty, a little alcohol kick at the end. Very drinkable.

Deep amber pour with a light tan head. Aroma is toasted maltiness and lots of sugary sweetness. Flavor is melanoidin sugars, toffee, and toast. Medium light bodied and sweet throughout. Blah, not for me.
