1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
11.2 ounce bottle - Hop City in Atlanta, Georgia. Best Before: 10/02/12.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown body with a slim, bone white head.
Smell: An unappealing sniff of grainy pils malt soaked in ethanol, hardly yielding little notes cherry cola.
Taste: Store-brand cola and a sweet thin drizzle of simple syrup for the pils malt. A dark fruitiness and decaying grass clippings introduces a sudden and surprising alcoholic harshness, which sort of embodies the taste in the cruelly long finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: No need to make any excuses for this, as itís just a rather poor example of the style. I didnít finish the bottle, I couldnít finish it. I got 99 problems but a Bischoff ainít one.

Malty and sweet. Hints of nuts and caramel. Smooth finish. Rather good overall, but not outstanding.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle purchased at Total Wine & More, Naples, FL on 12/07/2011. Poured a medium sized frothy, semi-fizzy ivory head that mostly diminished. Transparent body, one ring of lacing and a reddish-brown hue. The aroma was malty, caramel and semi-sweet. Ditto for the flavor with a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel was oily and this is a light-medium bodied beer. Overall, this beer was easy to drink, but it lacks character.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark amber with a light head and no lace. Decent caramel malt and light chocolate moves to a warm semi-sweet malt finish. A little light and watery, but drinkable.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
11.2 ounce bottle. Pours dark brown with an average biege head. Aroma of sweet malt, dark fruit and chocolate. Taste is similar. Just a bit of hops and a bit metallic. Just OK.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Dimpled Mug.
Appearance: Dark reddish-brown with moderate off-white head, settling to a thin line.
Aroma: Caramel, spicy hops, cherry, molasses and soy sauce. A little mild.
Taste: The taste is...odd. Some of the aroma comes through (cherry, caramel, soy sauce), but there is also some sickly dark fruit, and something akin to gasoline. Then there is a sudden, strong spicy hoppiness at the end, along with a medicinal aftertaste. However, it does taste better (just slightly) than that description sounds.
Palate: Moderately low carbonation, medium body, tingly off finish.
Overall: While the worst Doppelbock accusations seem a little unfounded, it may be the worst Doppelbock I have personally had, so maybe there is cause for those comments. However, I could imagine worse.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
11.2 oz green bottle (why?). Date on bottle says 10.02.12.
It ours a nice color, a deep reddish brown with a foamy off-white head that leaves some nice lacing.
The smell is kind of boring for a doppelbock.
The flavor is a bit better. It is not like a Bavarian doppelbock. It is actually pretty interesting to have a north-German doppelbock because they are rarer and a lot different. I would still take it over most American doppelbocks that throw way too much in to cover up shortcomings in their lager-making abilities. This one isnít as sweet and dryer than Bavarian examples, also more subtle. There is still a noticeable hop character to it. The sweetness takes up the back end though, with not hop bitterness to level it.
Overall not bad, but not up to par with Bavarian examples.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear brown-red pour witha thin tan head. Aroma has a bit of vegetable with some dark maltiness behind it. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel. Flavor has more of the vegetable funk with some dark fruit notes. Not very exciting... good body but not big on flavor.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Sampled from a 12 oz green bottle this beer poured a medium nut brown color with a small beige head that left some lacing. The aroma was perfumey and lightly malty. The flavor was caramel, maple syrup and perfume. The finish was long with caramel and perfume. Medium body. Ok.
