Bottle: some fruity maltyness, some bready notes, some harbal notes, Quinine like notes, some hoppy and metallic bitterness, some unpleasent sour notes, weak roasted notes, medium-full body, well it’s drinkable but not a good beer.

tomer (1530) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - FEB 10, 2009
0.33L bottle labeled as doppelbock, light smallish head. Clear light brown colour with reddish taints, aroma of honey drops with herbal hoppy notes and touches of vanila, Suprisingly strong hoppy bitterness with some honey and dried fruits sweetness, dry sweet and sour aftertaste. Thin, light bodied doppelbock that is way too hoppy.

From bottle, coca cola like with no gas, small tan head that dissapears quickly, some deep sweet aromas of chocolate dark fruits not too spicy, flavor is quite surprising, roasted malts sweetness, hops from start to the finish minty hoppiness can be sensed in the aftertaste some cloves as well, different one.

[Bottled as Doppelbock] Dark copper with a small, tan head. Not much aroma at all; some sweetness. Pretty bland with some sweet toffee and low, dry bitterness.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades quickly, leaving some lace. Nice clear, deep amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel nose. Flavor is malty caramel with hops in background. Decent dopplebock despite being in a screw-top green bottle. Best by Apr 24, 2008. $2.99 for a 500ml bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT

illinismitty (2270) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 18, 2008
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2008 Bottle at Margot Cafe in Nashville. Pours a dark mahogany with an average off white head. Faint lagery and plummy aroma. Medium bodied with a clean and smooth texture.A tad thin on mouthfeel. Flavor of dark caramel and raisen countered by a mild bitterness. Finish has some hints of alcohol. Ok, but has some cheapness to it, and lacks complexity

(Bottle). Sweet malty aroma. Dark orange-brown body, large light tan head. Flavor very sweet and caramel-fruity, but not cloying. Good carbonation. Clean finish. Very nice. (I wonder if there might be some greater than usual sample variation, given the wide dispersion of ratings for this beer.)

Ughsmash (7008) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 2, 2008
Botttled as "Bischoff Doppel Bock" Poured iced tea brown with a short cap of off-white head (rather nice initially). The aroma picked up artificially sweet toasted caramel and maize notes with a touch of alcohol warmth and light leafy hoppage. The flavor was very much along those same lines.. tangy, peppery notes on the tip of the tongue with warm candied caramel washing over the middle.. the sides were covered by alcohol-amplified herbal bitterness.. finished quite strong with caramel, black pepper, and leafy notes. Medium-bodied and strong on the palate with a lenghty warmer end to it.. came across as a cheap, but servicable doppelbock.
