Flasche 50cl.

Pours a three finger cream head that fades quickly, leaving some lace. Nice clear, deep amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel nose. Flavor is malty caramel with hops in background. Decent dopplebock despite being in a screw-top green bottle. Best by Apr 24, 2008. $2.99 for a 500ml bottle from Manchester Wine and Liquors Manchester, CT

Athens,Ga., Five Points Bottle Shop - 500 ml screw off bottle. Pours a dark chocolate colored brown with a khaki colored head that sticks around a while and leaves nice lacing. Aroma of molasses and chocolate. Rib sticking flavor with plenty of juicy molasses, brown sugar and bittersweet chocolate. thick, rich mouthfeel. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

12 oz bottle enjoyed during Broom’s 2014 4th of July party. Somewhat roasted and sweet, with a full body. Rather good, but better left to a cold winter night.

UPDATED: JAN 13, 2005 Screw-top bottle. Smoky chocolate malt and metallic aroma. Dark brown color with some head. Chocolate malt flavor with a moderate metallic/astringent and hops finish. Pretty nice doppelbock - not too astringent.

Dark brown/black, clear, with next to no head. Aroma is light, sweet, with a touch of caramel. Flavor is fairly sweet, with some roasted coffee and caramel notes, and a very solid, bitter, grassy dose of noble hops. A nice Kristkindlmarkt surprise.

the malt and ester profiles are lacking the complex character of a good doppelbock.

Pours a dark brownish amber color w/ a medium sized, semi creamy froth. Good hangtime and the lacing is full and thick. Aromas of sweet, mildly roasted caramel. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual effers. The texture turns creamy on the palate. Nice ! Mildly roasted and mildly sweet caramel malts open up to a defined black cherry character. Nuances of cake bread, chocolate, and red licorice w/ a mild leathering. The finish is long w/ black cherry and a mild peachpit style bittering component. Not complex by any means but the texture itself is worth a try.
