(500ml, best by 4/14/05) Cloudy copper body with big beige foam. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, spicy, light lemon, light pepper. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, lemon, some spice, light white pepper. Watery medium body with light stickiness. The sweetness was reduced as it warmed, making it a more enjoyable beer.

Bottle (kindly delivered by joss!): Hazy, mahagony coloured, quite firm smaller off-white layer; sweet fruity-wheaty and also caramelly nose with a touch of almomds and raisins; moderate sweet-sourish flavour, a bit fizzy, medium bodied; sweet caramelly finish, balanced by a light acidity. A friendly, well crafted Weizen, creating a very faint illusion of an belgian ale......

Bottled. A slightly hazy amber coloured beer with a decent thickish whitish head. The aroma is wheaty and has hints of bubblegum. The taste is on the thin side. A little banana and a little caramel. Pleasant enough but uninspiring.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 2, 2005
Dark reddish copper colour. More like a dunkelweizen that a hefe. Low carbonation. Some banana and spice in the aroma, but there’s something volatile and chemical about it too. Also a touch of licorice. Sweetish, creamy wheat flavour. Vaguely citric, with a bittersweet finish, developing into a rather tart aftertaste. No malt in evidence. Rather thin body, with a slightly metallic edge. OK, but nothing special. 500ml bottle frombeersofeurope.co.uk.

Bottle. Dark brown with an off-white head. Aromas are wheat with chocolate. Malty with citrus notes. Flavours are dry wheat with lots of metal notes. Earthy malts with some soft citrus. Tastes a little stale. Fairly bland but unoffensive.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cornfield (5276) - Oak Forest, Illinois, USA - APR 13, 2006
Nice sessionable hefeweizen... as if any decent one isn’t. Pouring a very hazy, deep amber body with a thick, creamy ecru head, the base of the nose is a soft wheat atop which is heaped vast quantities of banana and bubblegum scents. Soft mouthfeel. The flavor has some buttered toffee to it with a handful of Wheaties, but the bubblegum and banana surge forward accompanied by a spritz of lemon. Surprisingly dry finish. More.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 beerguy101 (5206) - Newark, California, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Light amber color. Medium head. Aroma is malt and caramel. A medium to lighter bodied German Hefeweizen. Malts are fruity, sweet and caramel. Touches of banana and clove. I would never have guessed that this beer is a Hefeweizen, as it has so few characteristics of a hefe, but it has a nice malt backbone and a nice yeastiness to it. Very drinkable. Light and refreshing. Smooth taste. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Bottle. Roasted almond aroma. Cloudy brown with nougat cream on top. Nutty, bready base with banana and clove notes. Chewy body, medium. Mellow mouthfull. Desert finish. Pleasant enough, but not overly exiting.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JPDIPSO (4956) - Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 5, 2005
Hazed oxidized copper color with a tall stable brownish white head. Mild wheat aromas with faint smells of peat, earth and buttery caramel corn. Rather weak bouquet. Pleasant flavors, though still rather light. Dry malt and wheat start and lead to a mild citric middle. For a ur-weisse this is very mild and unexciting, but quite drinkable.
