This is my idea of the perfect Baltic Porter. It is not too sweet for me like most of the imported and some of the domestic Baltic Porters. The only thing that could make it better is a good balanced fresh hop flavor, but that wouldn’t be true to type. It has plenty of complex roasty vanilla/mocha/cola flavor, but very smooth and easy to drink. The flavor of a good Imperial stout while keeping within the realm of quaffibility. After trying this at a taproom which charged as much for a 10oz glass as for the average micro brew pint, I checked on getting a keg and was pleasantly surprised that it was only $155 for 15.5 gallons! It says 8.0% not 8.5% on my keg, no biggy.

Draft. Dark mahogony beer with a tan head. Toffee and light roast aroma. Toffee and light roast flavor with light dark fruits. Medium bodied. Toffee and light roast lingers with light dark fruit and light earthiness.

On tap at GABF and Library Alehouse. Pours with a clear, deep brown body with slightly reddish highlights and a medium sized tan head that leaves good lace. Aromas are very clean: nutty, fudge, earth, mild roast. A very light spicy character. No fermentation characteristics. A bit bready as well from the malt. Flavors of cocoa, cocoa powder, fudge, nutty and a bit dusty. Again very clean as well. Medium to lively bubbles, somewhat dry for a big beer like this. Tasty.
