COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For our 22oz IPA bottling, we play around a bit. We use the exact same malt profile in each brew, but experiment with different hop varieties. This high alpha hop leaves a clean bitterness and is a good example of grapefruit and pine. Sometimes, we get a little sweet character like pear. This hop is also known as "Tomahawk." Bottle. Amber beer with an off-white head. Grapefruit, pine, resin aroma with some sweet malt backing. Big resiny flavor with grapefruit and pine and just a bit of earthiness to go with the sweet malt backing. Lingering grapefruit and resin. Medium body. Nice bitterness.

Bottle from BevMo.Pours a fairly dark orangecolor with some red in there. Sweet hoppy aroma, mostly citric. Bitterness is quite spicy. Pretty good bitterness. Interesting to see some subtleties of the different hop varieties.

Bottle. Pours a rich, moderately hazy deep amber color. The head is small but persistant and leaves nice lacing behind. Aroma is mostly caramel, sweet and malty without a lot of hop aroma. Medium bodied and very smooth, nice soft carbonation. Moderately bitter without any harshness, a nice balance of malt and hop. Tends to run a bit more on the citrus side of hop flavor. Pretty nice, would have wanted a much larger hop aroma and perhaps a touch more hop bitterness and flavor.

Ok 22 oz bomber bought at Lifesource in Salem $2.99. Nice looking beer, quite dark for an IPA, dark amber and slightly hazy, small off white head, leaves nice lace. Aroma is certainlly hoppy ,but much maltiness is apparent like the original, Flavour again is like the parent brew mostly semi-bitter malty..then the Columbus hops take over in a big way at the back of the mouthful more pine than grapfruit in character, long lasting resinous bitterness. I found this quite ok onthe palate, but really i found the sudden appearance of the Columbus hops a little weird. Overall a nice beer, but strangely i preferred the original , with its almost English style balance.
