UPDATED: FEB 16, 2014 12oz bottle says 5% ABV (this site says 6.1%). Nice fluffy head that lingers with fast lacing over a nearly opaque and plain dark brown body. Aroma is cocoa with a little coffee seemingly serious and above the swill. Taste is mildly sweet like an oatmeal stout. Finish is bitter. Palate is creamy. Classy like good chocolate. Happy to have the six-pack from the store that stocks it.

Seems as though they may have some quality control issues reading the other comments, scanned the barcode, mine says it’s Peruvian cocoa not Dutch. Not very complex or satisfying, won’t be buying again unless on sale.

Black with a tiny white head, mild chocolate aroma, very smooth and easy to drink. Definite chocolate flavour with a little malt, I could drink a lot of these very easily.

Pours a deep cola color with a chocolate malt aroma. Taste is of coco powder mixed with a leathery film left on the palate. The coco and chocolate infused with the malt overpowers this beer. The flavors linger for a bit after the swallow. Overall a decent stout that tastes organic as advertised.

12 oz. bottle. Typical color with thin white fizzy head. The nose is rich with deep roasted malts. Flavor is nearly as good, solid amount of milk chocolate, bakers chocolate and hints of charred ash. The body could use a bit more fullness. The charred ash has a chalky type of texture. Honestly this stout meet my expectations, nothing complex but no problems and really easy to drink for any stout lover. I only marked it down a tad because of the weak body, flavor is still here.

11/28/13. Pours black with a fluffy, resilient light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roast malt, cocoa powder, some grass, chalk. Taste is dry; dark chocolate, earthiness, roast malt; finish is long bitter chocolate. Nice lacing. Medium-low carbonation. Oily mouth feel. Surprisingly dry; not quite so chocolatey as I expected or hoped for. Not bad; nothing mind blowing.

12 ounce bottle. Nice looking black and tan pour. Some cocoa powder on first sip. Creamy with nitro feel to it. Chocolate presence throughout. Not a heavy body.

Tap: black pour with thin tan head. Aroma is smokey roast grain malt, and a small bit of soy. Flavor is dark chocolate, charred grains, toffee, and soy sauce in the finish. Starts sweet and runs through to a slight grainy bitter, the chocolate taste increases with warmth. Decent flavor gets better as it warms.

Its either the bottle or the beer but this was unpleasant. Upon opening there was a loud “psssst”, to which I immediately put the bottle in the sink, no gusher so I took a sip, my mouth filled up with gas causing me to spit out the beer and again expecting the rest of the bottle to gusher, it did not. Pouring in a glass gave me something I don’t think I have ever seen, 100% head with maybe a 2 oz pour. The persistent over-carbonation makes this acidic and prickly to the taste, not the smooth and creamy characteristics I want in a stout. Nasty and undrinkable.

Serving: Draft. It pours a dark brown color with a small head. The nose has light notes of earthy chocolate and cocoa powder. The flavor has an earthy bitterness with watery roasted malt, thin chocolate, and a light nuttiness. Not the best combination. Thin on the palate with a weak finish. Pass on this one.
