CaptKirk (175), Hephzibah, Georgia, USA Jul 25, 2007 Had in the bottle at a local watering hole. I was never overly impressed with organic anything. The beer had a nice aroma of chocolate and malts. Poured dark almost black with an off white head. Did find this beer to be a bit light for me. One was great, but I would not want to have a lot of this at one time
bb (2168), Martinez, California, USA Sep 22, 2008 Bottle. Dark, almost black beer with a light tan head. Chocolate aroma with light roast/coffee. Roasty, chocolate, malt flavor with backing hops. Medium-plus bodied. Lingering roast, some chocolate, and malt. More hops than expected for a chocolate stout. BelgianBeerGal (983), Sabbatical in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Sep 14, 2008 Bottled. Fine stout. Pours a very dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavour dominated by roasted malt and bitter, unsweetened chocolate. VERY easy drinking. BigBeer45 (489), Troy, Michigan, USA Sep 7, 2008 Pours black and is brown ruby at the edges, has a small to medium tan bubbled head, left some tanned lacing, nose is predominately chocolate and milk chocolate, roasted malt and licorice, flavor of roasted malt with chocolate and coffee influences, some sweetness, easy to drink or gulp, some bitterness at the finish from hops and roasted malt, this is dry and leaves some roast malt flavor at the finish, I got a medium mouth feel and some creaminess on the palate, a good Chocolate Stout. Beerlando (1355), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 2, 2008 Pours an extremely dark mahogany brown color. The body is nearly opaque, with just the slightest hint of transparency when backlit. A small beige head is quickly fleeting. Minimal soapy spotting marks the glass. The aroma shows strong chocolate malts, mocha, scorched caramel, and a nice dose of earthy hops. Flavors follow suit, bittersweet chocolate and caramel showing very dessert-like, with roasted coffee beans and earthy hops lending balancing bitterness. The body is a little light for the style, but the carbonation is balanced, making this brew entirely quaffable. Overall, this is a tasty little chocolate stout that would make for an easy going Sunday morning brew. kiefdog (483), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 26, 2008 22oz bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a murky black color with a one finger tan head that settles slowly. Good retention and lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate, fresh ground coffee, vanilla, some caramel and toffee. Flavor is predominately chocolate and coffee with some hints of dark ripe fruit. Generally medium bodied with a sweet coffee finish.
