A richly textured and roasty stout with a boost of bitter and charismatic flavor from the addition of fine dutch cocoa in the mash.

I was expecting this to have more of a sweetness to it. Pitch pour with diminishing brown head. Mild aroma of roasted malt. Flavor is somewhat lacking, pretty bitter with some roast and a bit of smoke. Tastes watered down. Flavor did improve as it warmed though. Definitely needs to be paired with a piece of chocolate or something.

Bottle at Swiss Louis on Pier 39 in San Fran. Poured from my bottle a light black with tan head. The aroma was bitter sweet chocolate, malts, and yeast. Taste was light chcocolate, a malty backbone. Overall a decent beer, I was wishing for more of the chocolatey bittersweet to come through though.

Pours a deep rich dark brown. Nice dark tan head with long lasting retention. Smells of chocolate and a hint of coffee and wheat. However thin on the palate and tastes a little weak suprisingly.

"i would not call it "richly textures" or "charismatic", as Bison claims. This beer was a bit of a thin-bodied disappointment, as Iím usually crazy about the style. Underwhelming all around for a choc. stout, it isnít one Iíll buy again."

In a bottle at ale house 1890 in Lancaster, Ohio, served in a frosty pint glass. This beer is a rich brown black opaque liquid with a ring of small milk chocolate brown bubbles. Nose is a dry dark chocolate nose. taste is dark chocolate bitters with a nice roasted malt base. Body is silky and luxurious. a very nice stout.

Single from total wine. Relatively muted flavors and a bit watery. Some roasty malt and rich chocolate flavors. Aroma is a touch of roasty malt. Finish is a little bittersweet. Ok but absolutely better beers out there.

Poured from bottle to glass. Dark hue with brown creamy head that lingered. Aroma is chocolate, roast, coffee, caramel, toffee. Mouthfeel is nice with a medium body and crisp carbonation. Taste is sweet with a nice astringent bitterness following and a clean finish. Overall this was a nice brew.

Aroma: Roast coffee and chocolate with hints of yeast at the edges. Appearance: Black with a rich tan head. Taste: Light sweetness balanced by a light sourness. Palate: Full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: A bit too sour for my taste. A bit disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft wob. This is the kind of "chocolate" stout I prefer. As opposed to youngs, this one is bitter. Body is full and creamy texture. Aroma is of dark chocolate and roasted barley. Middle is of bitter roasted coffee and cocoa nibs. Carbonation is spritzy and refreshing. Finish is cocoa bitter and lingering slightly sweet chocolate. Overall dry, bitter, chocolatety medium bodied stout.

Opaque deep dark brown beer with a tinny beige head that barely forms before disappearing. Nose of bitter cocoa, coffee, and burnt sugar. Flavor is more of the same with unsweetened chocolate, espresso, and dark roasted grain, but the flavor is surprisingly subtle with little finish. A bit of bitterness lingers, but not much more. Decent, but not great.
