COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bison Brewing teamed up with New Brew Thursday, one of the Internet’s most compelling craft beer podcasts, to co-present a homebrew competition. The winner, Andrew Bell (Ratebeer member BMan1113VR), was awarded the opportunity to brew his beer with Bison’s Brewmaster, Dan Del Grande.
Brewed with a blend of the palest malts, an excessive amount of New Zealand organic hops, the alcohol level of a Pale Ale and the hop content of a Double IPA, we are classifying this unique creation a “New Zealand Pale Ale”.
Extremely aromatic from excessive dry-hopping, Zeal Island Pale Ale boasts an intensely tropical nose with hints of passion fruit, grapefruit and fresh cut grass. Very light pale malt flavors and virtually no caramel sweetness allows the bright tropical and citrus notes of the hops to shine through on the palate. Light-bodied and refreshingly crisp with a dry bitter finish, the Zeal Island Pale Ale is perfect on its own as an every day sipper or pairs well with a variety of cuisines.

growler thanks to bu11zeye. poured yellow with a soapy white head and left some lacing. aroma was beef jerky, citrus, and peach. flavor was pine, citrus, orange, and lemon with a light body.

(Growler) Pours a clear yellow body with a medium white head. Aroma of pineapple, herbs, baseball card bubble gum, florals, and citrus. Flavor of pineapple, dank, caramel, grain, light pine, and grass. Nice pale ale inspired by one of my favorite homebrewers and good friend, Andrew.

Proud of my best friend bman1113vr to have gotten the opportunity to brew his homebrew winning receipe professionally! Very tropical scent to this beer, with hints of pineapple, and passion fruit. Hoppy taste, but very refreshing at the same time. Light mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Altogether a great brew - especially to someone who does not like hoppy beers - the refreshing taste of this beer really makes it one I could sip on while watching a beautiful hawaiian sunset on Oahu with my girlfriend. Great work!!

Draft at Stone with Andrew, Brendan and the big boy daddy dad Bachelor, Dallas. Pours a bright orange with no head, light white lacing. Aroma is wheat and abbey triple spice. Mouthfeel is dry with notes of unpleasant hops and light yeasty fruits.

A: The beer pours a pale golden orange color with a nice white head. S: Very fruity aroma with pineapple, grapefruit, and a touch of peach. There are light grass and floral notes with some sweet pale malts. It’s almost a little bit catty from those New Zealand hops. T: Starts off with a bit of sweet malt and bread. There is a light grass note, but again, it’s quite fruity. Plenty of pineapple and various citrus with only a mild pine and moderate bitterness. M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation and a long lasting finish with some lingering bitterness. O: A very solid, easy drinking, and very flavorful pale ale. Well done, Andrew.

On tap at Stone w Andy, James, Dallas. Opaque dark yellow, no real head, no lacing. Aroma bananas, wheat, some spice. Taste completely underwhelming but a little eggy. Not offensive but just not much to this. Didn’t hate as much as Andy.
