Serving: Draft at the Thirsty Monk. Boozy and woody with a little bourbon note. Aggressive and sweet with lots of alcohol. A little lopsided. I’m missing the Belgian side of this one.

joeneugs (1598) - Livermore, California, USA - JUN 4, 2011
On tap at Pacific Coast in Oakland. It pours a rather clear ruby red with an off white head. The aroma is candied dark fruit with some light bubblegum Belgian yeast in the background. The flavor has lots of raisins and brown sugar. The Belgian yeast is not very assertive which hurts this in the complexity department, yet its pretty light on the palate for the ABV. Overall, a good beer.

marcus (4050) - Sacramento, California, USA - APR 10, 2011
On tap at Beer Revolution. Pours light amber with a thin off-white head and a strong raisin aroma. There is a tasty dark fruit flavor with some banana ester and candi sugar. A decent American version of abbey dubbel.

Draft. Brown beer with a cream colored head. Sweet aroma with alcohol and dried fruit. Dried fruit and sweet malt flavor with light yeast. Medium bodied. Dried fruit and light malt lingers with light caramel and light yeast.
