Hazy tawny colored pour. Small white head that falls quickly. No lacing. Aroma of soap dirt and malt. Taste is better with some malt and peppery spice.

Very floral aroma with light barnyard notes. Amber w pinkish tiny. Average to high carbonation. Cool flavor. Very "botanical". Digging the hibiscus and lemongrass. Light black pepper.

The aroma is floral medicinal and metallic with a touch of funky yeast. The appearance is light amber. The taste is like the aroma with both sweet and bitter elements. The palate is smooth but thin. Overall interesting to try once but not a go to beer. It does improve as it warms.

Poured this one out of a bottle. It’s definitely interesting. Aroma is floral and citrusy with a bit of funky yeast. Appearance is not quite clear, but not quite cloudy either; just right in the middle which is spot on for a saison. However, the head was not as fluffy as you would expect from this style and it did not stick around for too long. It may just be my bottle though since organic beers can be temperamental. Taste was sweet with straw and lemon. Overall not a bad beer, just a bit interesting.

Coppery orange color with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, with roses and bubble gum, and just a hint of grainyness. Taste is more of the same, especially in the latter aspect, and there’s not much more to it than a light, drinkable beer. $2/12oz

Bottle to half-pint glass (shared with the Mrs.). Looks solid; a transparent burnt orange with eggshell head that steadily dissipates into thin lacing. Smells of saison yeast with floral and citrus notes, and a touch of pepper as well. Tastes like it smells with an average (at best) mouthfeel. The lemongrass comes through more than I’d like on the tongue. Not bad, but not good either.

Bottle:   Now that is one peppery smelling Saison.   Hibiscus and strong peppercorn aroma.   Rose petals as well.   Not sure I get the lemongrass.   Not your traditional Saison.   Average body and mouthfeel.   Strong peppercorn finish.   A touch of sweetness.   Interesting, but not what I was expecting.

Aurelius (4171) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JUN 6, 2014
Candied coriander, slightly spicy, malty, slightly funky p-cresol aroma. 12oz longneck, bad label. Medium oakwood color, can’t see through it. Peppered apricot flavor up front, a little warming, medium bittering. Subtle grapefruit. Medium to slightly light body. A spicy, lighlty citrus and slightly tangy aftertaste. Nothing special. New Leaf Market.

On tap at Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours light amber with a nice beige head and a fruity aroma. There is a light-bodied pale malt flavor with a skunky fruity flavor.

12oz bottle pours with a deep clear copper body that supports a weak dirty white group of bubbles. The aroma offers up sugar, candied coriander, candied floral and flowery notes as well as syrupy sweet lemon grass. The taste is sugary, thin berry juice, more sugar and then a truck load of flowery perfume counter notes that are cut slightly by some spices. This is going in all the wrong places with the pervasive sweetness and flowery perfume. The right place at this juncture seems to be the kitchen sink drain.
