cazort (374), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA May 26, 2008 (Bottle) I am giving this beer such high numerical ratings because I feel I need to offset other raters’ biases against non-alcoholic beers.
This is my favorite non-alcoholic beer. It has the crisp, refreshing bitterness and hop bite that Clausthaler achieves, but it has more complexity to the malt, like Warsteiner. It has a metallic taste, like most German Pilseners, but it is not unpleasant. Of all the NA brews, this one tastes the most like its equivalent, the regular Bitburger. I am impressed! Balanced, complex. This is the cream of the crop when it comes to non-alcoholic beers. LuckeyHaskins99 (180), Toledo, Ohio, USA Feb 17, 2002 FIRST as some have asked how I can highly rate an N/A on this scale, a 5 means that it actually tastes like a beer.... now on to the review.....
Every year i take a month off from beer (And all booze for that matter) drinking. I use this time to evaluate NA’s, as well as clear my system for a while. I discovered Drive at this time last year. A clean, crisp Ale that is such a good facsimle of real beer that my friends were drinking it over other stuff in their fridge. Besides, what a great name for an N/A... Drive, meaning, drink a dozen and drive your buddies home. I’m sticking to the regular stuff right now, but when mu N/A period rolls around agian, I’ll gladly drink this stuff! GiddyBoy (109), USA Sep 18, 2002 Not bad for a nonalcoholic beer. This had a serious head on it. A little bitter, but otherwise pretty good Ernest (4254), Boulder, Colorado, USA Mar 2, 2002 Updated: Aug 3, 2007Bottle (BIT 07 edition). Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (herbs). Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Easily one of the best N/A beers that exists. Hoppy, bitter, clean...beats a lot of 5% lagers. Magic_dave6 (4012), London, Greater London, England Aug 27, 2007 The cask and barrle. Bready grassy bittering hop, biscuity, though not overly as many low alcs are, good bitter finish. Great body for a beer with only 0.5% alc.
