IMy car broke down in Rock Springs Wyoming, leaving me stranded for a few days. Finding the Bitter Creek Brewing Co. was the first good thing, Trying the sampler and experiencing the Wee Bastard Scottish Ale was the second. Easily the best of the samplers with a full taste, just enough hops, not too smokey and a smooth finish. The key to this beer is balance: perfect ammounts of each ingredient so that none overwhelm and deminish the others flavors Definitely worth a trip back to Wyoming.

from a small taster at the pub: sort of honey orang color; some citrus and alcohol in the aroma; taste is the same, fairly sweet with a lightly syrupy mouthfeel, medium to full bodied.

on tap 7/21/10. oddly colored scottish?... golden with a clingy white head. sweet aroma includes peach, orange, florals and some grassiness. the flavor is not very scottish like either... but it’s decent... sweet and fruity, malty richness, florals and a touch of booze heat on the finish. medium to full bodied. slick and rich while alcohol tries to thin it out. 6/2/6/3/12/2.9

Draught. Pours clear dark orange with a small, frothy white head, mostly diminishing with spare lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie), light hop (grass), average yeast (dough) with notes of dates, apple, and honey. Medium bodied, slick texture, soft carbonation, and an astringent finish. Average duration, heavy sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

On tap @ BC. Let’s be clear: this is not at all a Scottish Ale. It isn’t dark, it isn’t thick, it doesn’t taste of peat, chocolate or roast. It smells and tastes like organic homemade raspberry jam, which is not at all unpleasant, just totally out of left field.

ABUSEDGOAT (1937) - California, USA - AUG 23, 2007
My least favorite of the group here. Amber body. Aroma is doughy with caramel, very sweet. Hops are hard to find. Too sweet and mainly simple for my tastes.

[Colorado Road Trip – 2006] A nice easy to drink Scottish ale with a good amount of alcohol at 6.5% this was a great beer. The malts and the smokiness where very good I liked how this beer drank from start to finish.

On tap at Bitter Creek Brewery Rock Springs, WY. Pours without a head, so no lace. Clear amber color. Nose is overripe apples on the ground. No carbonation and medium bodied. Starts sweet with a some hops in background, finish is fermented apple cider. Needs some carbonation. Goes well with their shrimp & sausage. $3.75 for 16oz. glass. The ABV is 8.5%.
