aceofhearts (1373), San Francisco, California, USA Feb 25, 2005 Tap. Amber, moderate clarity. Very strong hoppy west-coast hoppy aroma with a little bit more complexity...are those Chinooks?? Slightly sweet, and very drinkable for someone who usually complains about hophead beers. Some spice toward the end, a little bit of mint in the flavor that blended nicely with the muted malts. Way to go! acrdz (4376), Boulder, Colorado, USA Feb 21, 2005 IIPA, as described by the brewer and the acidic hop attack on my tongue. Golden amber color, gritty and earthy, leafy hops dominate, very sharp and acidic, reminds me of a bad experience I had with a bottle of Hercules. Flavor has some Belgian-like spices, hoppy and piney throughout with some caramel and grass flavors. Good stuff, with a pleasent aroma of sweet marichino cherries wrapped up in the hop orgy. Humulone_Red (744), Vancouver, Washington, USA Feb 16, 2005 I had this on tap and from a cask at on the B-side on Bitter End’s 11th anniversary. Wow what a night! This beer pours a cloudy dark orange with a fluffy white head and lacing. Great floral and citrus nose and flavors with pine, grapefruit, and malt in the mix. Great balance and silky texure. It is so smooth and clean for a 7.5% IPA! Great beer! Way to go Brian. One more reason the Biiter End is great brewpub! PorterPounder (2852), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Feb 14, 2005 Had on tap at the brewpub, pours a slighlty fluffy, sparkling white head with thick lacing sitting on top of a orangesih-amber pour. Sports a fragrant, floral and sprucey aroma, very fresh and clean. The flavor is moderately hoppy, with some citrusy grapefruit accents but is mellowed out with some sweet nutty maltiness for excellent balance. Mouthfeel is clena and silky and not tongue numbing. Higher ABV is evident, but nota hinderance.. Overall, an excellent brewpub IPA - congrats on 11 great years.
Walt (2287), Chicago, Illinois, USA Feb 12, 2005 Poured murky orangey amber with no head (bartender)...smell is pine and soap...taste is much more balanced than the nose leads you to believe...sweet with a nice piney finish mopping it up with a nice bitter residue in the mouth...
