Had on tap at the Bitter End. Pours a dark ruby red to light black with a thin mocha colored head that has thick creamy lacing. Aroma has some nice bittersweet chocolate notes with some underlying coffee notes. Flavor starts off slightly sweet, pehaps the honey shining through. Finishes with strong coffee and chocolate notes. Mouthfeel is earthy and thick. One of the better brewpub porters I have come across.

[November ‘04] Pour dark with a nice thick tan head and creamy lacing. Big chocolate notes in the nose with some coffee. Sweet (honey?) start with a coffee and coffee body with a slight bitterness at the end for balance. Creamy texture. Good porter.

Tap. The name reminds me of a time when I accidentally saw a note that my brother had written to his girlfriend (or maybe it was the other way around), and it was addressed to "hunny". I thought it was kind of a middle-school way to refer to a lover, but then again I’ve gone out with Asian girls who don’t speak English very well and with whom I subconsciously slip into talking like a 5-year old in order to communicate with them. Yeah. The beer in question is opaque black with an interesting looking yellow head...that looks almost orange, of all things. I really tried to get the honey in the aroma but came up short. It’s still pretty good, with light sweetness accenting the strong coffee finish quite well. Very crisp at the same time, an interesting and original porter offering.
