This was the best of show at the TCBF - IMO. Even with a smaller pour it shows what I like in a barleywine, complexity of malt and hop as they play happily in the Texas sun as it eats my lunch. My notes became much as others by this point leading me to but a sketch and recollection that I will be having this again. Yum.

Tap. Pours a murky but bright orange color with a rocky white head and good lacing. This has a nice citrus and fruit aroma. Big hop flavor with a good malt background and a velvety smooth texture. I don’t know if the one I had was aged or new but it was very smooth. Great beer.

Tap. Nice-looking in a wine glass: glowing orange-amber, level and foamy head. Very sharp aroma, saying "Yield to incoming bitterness and hoppiness". And indeed, that's what comes. It tastes similar to an Arrogant Bastard, with the expected strong citrus-grapefruit flavor and aggressive Chinook hops. Mildly off aftertaste made me ponder giving it a 3 in palate, but if you're gonna run with the big boys, ya gotta be able to handle it. A good beer.
