This is a smoked porter. A big one at that. Soft and easy on the cocoa notes and body. The smoke aroma is excellent.

not quite black pour, murky brown with no head. aroma of sweet cirtus and wood. mesquite taste that is in the background. the hops are alive in this. biting grass taste dominates the chocolate flavor, very acidic finish. is the most subdued smoke flavor. only the acidity comes out hints at smoke,

I just didn’t get real impressed by this one. No head, nice nose though. If there was a dominance of smoke, it was in the nose only. In the mouth, it was straight ahead porter for me.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 HumuloneRed (750) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 22, 2004
Nice dark reddish color with a nice tan head and good lacing. Nice malty and smoke/woody nose. Very nice silk and roast malt character with a smokey background. Creamy in texture. Nice smoke/roast finish. The flavor is really enhanced when paired with the Adobo Chicken Pizza on the menu. Nice beer.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DewBrewer (295) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUL 18, 2004
This is a great tasting beer. I love porters…and I love rauch beers….so you can see why this is one of my favorite beers in Austin right now. The smoke is subtle but just right. The porter itself has a great flavor with good roastiness and it is nice and creamy. You just want to keep drinking this beer because it is so delicious. It is very well balanced with the bitterness, dark malt & smoke.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 grat (433) - ST. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 13, 2004
Good brew...far too drinkable to be excellent. Nice dark dark color. Zero head. Smells of chocolate malts and sweet florally hops. Tastes sooo great. Seems to me to be a smoked porter....who knows however, certainly I dont taste no damn barley in this one and the dry roastedness really comes through. ON the back end you get a nice little bit of smokiness, really slight but excellent.
G-rat

Tap. Black, opaque, thin head. The actual smokiness is somewhat concealed by the strong dark malts. Flavors of chocolarte, raisins make themselves well-known throughout. Medium-full bodied. Not bad at all!
