4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 4, 2002
Billed as a Belgian Tripel, this is a 7.5% abv brew whose alcohol is extremely well-hidden. Drinkable and mild, but with enough punch to pass for a dubbel. Delicious and recommended for newbies to the Belgian style.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 HumuloneRed (751) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 27, 2004
Served in a snifter. I get apricot and tangerine with notes of banana and cloves in the nose. Pours a light gold with a small head and nice lacing. Complex flavors of apricot, vanilla, and sweet malt. Creamy texture. Great triple.
I was lucky enough to get a 750ml flip-top bottle of this courtesy of the brewer Brian, and bring it ot the pre-GABF babblefest. It was a hit at the party but I think it is better now than ever.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Mangino (1027) - Mississippi, USA - OCT 18, 2005
Sampled @ GABF- Pours a clear golden yellow, small easy white head. Aroma is very pleasent, floral with notes of lemon and spice. Flavor is sweet and balanced, amazing floral and spice notes come out and shine.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Crosling (1863) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - OCT 4, 2004
One of the Bitter End brewers poured this at the Pre-GABF babblefest.
Golden.
Aroma of plants, herbs, hay, slight spice, probably coriander and phenols.
Wit-like in many ways especially with its spicing. Quite delicious and well rounded in my opinion. Punchey, clove-like with a nice light fruitiness to balance the spicing. More like a strong saison in my opinion than a tripel but this is certainly not a dubbel.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 grat (433) - ST. Louis, Missouri, USA - NOV 1, 2005
This is fantastic beer. I would describe it as a cross between a saison and a tripel. Lovely golden beer. Dense creamy head. Strawy gold. Nose has a serious sweet zest to it around the edges with its center as dry and farmy as a saison. Flavors reflect this. Not too sweet. Malts shine though, but are subdued by a terrific yeast that is very farmy and dry. Hops are slight but noticeable for certain. Bitter slight edge on the end. Great beer. Too short a finish.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 tiggmtl (4516) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 7, 2005
Fruity, candy sugar in the lightly spicy aroma. Clear golden body is topped by a low, white, fine bubbled head that lasts well. Candy sugar, some fair spiciness, sweet, fruity, tripel-like flavour with plenty of yeast character. Medium light body with lively carbonation. Sampled at GABF 2005.

Simple sample, but that said certainly sweet in the "SWEET!" sense saying Schwarts skills spell success. Light and lovely, fruity and estery and making me want more.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAY 26, 2006
Pour is opaque dark yellow, with a thin white head...smell is spiced with lots of cloves and corriander and some yeast...taste is sweet and fruity with some sugar and apples, then lots of clove flavor...nice quick finish...

GABF 2002: Nice and spicy. Very wit-like.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BBB63 (5406) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - OCT 3, 2005
GABF 2005: Displays a golden hue with a small frothy head and some lace. The aroma has notes of belgian sugar cabdi, corriander, orange zest, flowery and spicy hops, and some wheat notes. The taste is sweet initially but a good tartness follows and keeps it in check. I also got an undertone of fleshy fruit and moderate spice. The feel is sticky and warming, smooth. This is a very good offering, the folks in Austin should be proud of this brewery.
