22 oz. bottle- Pours mostly black with red highlights and a one finger mocha colored head that disappears fairly quickly leaving a blanket of creamy foam. The aroma is hops, Pacific Northwest hops, piney and resinous. The taste is a nice blend of chocolate malt and those NW hops, tasty. Body is medium, carbonation is high. Overall this was good, I enjoyed the hops the most, and blended with the chocolate malt nicely.

A decent black IPA, thin at times.

Pours very dark, with a whitish tan head. Aroma of hops. Tasts is also very hoppy with notes of more complex malts underneath. While IPAs are not my favorite, this one is pretty good. Thumbs up.

reebtogi (3262) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 26, 2012
650ml bottle pours almost black on color with a 2 finger off-white head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains and chocolate with some citrus and herbal notes. Taste is a herbal and citrusy hop bitterness with an underlying chocolate sweetness and light roast bitterness. A really nice IPA that is a surprisingly great tasting experience.

phaleslu (4431) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 20, 2012
Draft at Montana Ale Works, served in a pint glass. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head that laces the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, earthy and citrusy hops, chocolate, and burnt toast. Flavor of chocolate, citrusy and earthy hops, bitter roast, and ash. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a roasty mouthfeel that finishes bitter. The hops are pretty subtle here; more roasty like a stout. But I liked it a lot anyway.

Nose of citrus, pine, tropical fruit, spruce, roasted malts, a little caramel and ash. Pours dark brown, some reddish hues, thin tan head. Flavors of citrus, pine, spruce, tropical fruity hops, roasted malts, caramel, ash, a little charred but with sweetness that balances. Nice fruity finish. Sharp and crisp hoppy finish. A nice Black IPA.

RBAG - Bottle - Pours clear black, with a thin off-white head, and spotty lacing. Nose is ashy, with spruce, black chocolate, graphite, mocha. Flavours are again quite ashy, with nice spice, chocolate, and juniper berries. A solid Black IPA, no complaints here...

RBAG Summer Session 2012. Very dark brown with an unapologetic hop aroma. Usual suspects of citrus, pine and grapefruit. Malts show through a bit. Taste is similar with the roasted malt character asserting itself. Real nice bitterness to the brew and the balance suits my tastes well. Enjoyed this brew.

RBAG summer 2012. From a 650ml brown bottle. Deep dark brown pour, tan head with good creaminess, sticky lace. Roasty nose, black coffee. Taste is big on coffee, roasty dark malts. Some hops in the finish and lasting roast notes. Good drinkability.
