3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BBB63 (5023) - La Porte, USA - JAN 16, 2004
Dark brown with reddish highlights, very good creamy tan head and outstanding lace. The aroma hints of expresso, caramel, mocha, aromatic hops, pipe tobacco, and wet oats. Taste is chocolaty in nature, sweet and smooth with a large coffe bitterness in the background, good balance. The finish displays a smoky and hoppy character. The mouthfeel is thin, lively, and aggressive. A combo sweet and dry stout, good characteristics of both styles, but no dominating feature either. Good with a chocolate covered brownie for dessert.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DiarmaidBHK (1527) - Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 5, 2011
First really solid beer I’ve had here. Pours lehigh brown from tap with a thin brown head. Nice roasted and dark chocolate notes on the nose. Joining those notes on the tongue is a touch of coffee. The only drawback is the mouthfeel is a bit thin but it finishes clean.
2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 pineypower (1816) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - MAR 27, 2010
Sample at brewery. Pours out a dark brown with a tiny tell of a tan head. Aroma is of some chocolate, and faint tell of roast, but nothing overall that stands out. Flavor is light chocolate, roast and a faint tell of coffee, was looking for a much more full mouthfeel from a stout.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 dmac (2656) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - MAR 27, 2010
Draft sampler. Pours an off brown body with no head. Aroma is weak coffee through a filter. Body is thin and undercarbonated. Flavor is weak coffee, earth, slight syrup and overly sweet for the style. Not good.
3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rman18 (296) - South Amboy, New Jersey, USA - JAN 3, 2009
A good beer but not perfect.. The "espresso-like bitterness" is a good description for this beer. It leaves a taste of burntness in your mouth as well. Nice dark, black appearance and dark tan head. Nice palate. The taste is almost too much for a whole pint. Very burnt, espresso, bitterness to it.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dickinsonbeer (5076) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - DEC 13, 2007
On tap at bittings. Pours a deep dark brown almsot black with a lasting beige head. Aroma is nutty, doughy yeast, caramel, chocolate and light roast. Full flavor- sharp dark caramel- special B sweetness, Toffee, sharp dark chocolates, and some modest coffee roast character in the end. Mildly bitter.

I was unimpressed with this oatmeal stout. It lacked any real palate and had nothing going else goin on either. Very dissappointing.

Major coffee-espresso flavors going on here, plus a lot of nuttiness that’s either enjoyable or disgusting, depending on your tastes. Black like tar.

on tap-pours a rocky tan head that laces. Color is brown with red tint. Aroma is dark malt. Taste is coffee, oatmeal, dark malt. Nice, even though not my taste.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - JAN 9, 2005
Roasted nose, dark black color, lathery head. Dark roaste malt body with an espresso finish. The roastedness covers the fact that this is thin and weak, really. Still an OK beer. Fun and enjoyable, but rather average.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 YogiBeera (2436) - Hamburg, GERMANY - DEC 1, 2004
Pitch black colored. Small layer of a head. Toasted coffee nose and also taste. Silky but also fizzy.
