(Cask) Light brown, dense head. Fine and creamy with low carbonation. Color is a cloudy dark reddish brown. Aroma of cinnamon and sugar, roasted grains and malts. Rich flavor with dark chocolate, and coffee. Finish is dry, bitter and roasty with a little coffee aftertaste.

Oak aged, cask. Smells oaky and burnt, also toffee. This is so very much a stout and not a porter. Big and oily up front, dry and thinner beneath, toasty, anise, figs. Velvety mouthfeel despite the thin body. This is *such* a dry stout. . .and it’s one I dig.

07.23.04 Hand pump, cask, at BP. Black, though thin looking. Small tan head. Some coffee in aroma. A bit dry, finishes with a hint of coffee. August says he uses the Bitting house brew in this beer. Very nice, though thinner than I expected. I guess that has to do with the cask/pump serving?

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2004 GABF '03. Black pour with thin tan head. Roasted taste along with light coffee. Too thin and watery to be a decent porter Re-Rate @ Brewery A bit too sweet for my liking in a porterTastes a bit dry and hardly any hops. .

Wow. This was different. I am not a big fan of milk Stouts but I like where this beer is trying to go. Pours almost black with a medium creamy beige head. Thin and slow lacing. The aroma is roasty and malty. Medium-bodied with an interesting blend of coffee, chocolate and malt. Very creamy texture throughout, and the finish stays in line with that. This was very good.

Completely opaque with lingering rocky tan head. Apparent coffee in nose. Bitter on initial taste but mellows toward end of swallow with sweetness rising dramatically at end. Coffee character prevalent throughout. Very creamy mouthfeel.
