Had this on tap at the brewery. Poured dark amber with smell and taste with a good amount of hops.

Love this beer. Strong clean crisp taste, really bites in with the hops. Nice and bitter if you are into that.

Nice coloring, big two finger head, and great lacing has this brew looking great. Flavors of malt are definitely in the background, as this clean tasting pale had a surprising bitterness that was much enjoyed. Mouthfeel and carbonation was pretty much spot-on. The bitterness is really where this pale ale shines, though. Reminds me of Starr Hill’s excellent (and similarly hopped) pale ale. Aroma was really the only place where this one lacked any. Dry hopping could really make this something special.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampler at the brewpub. Nice amber color with a caramel malt and citrusy hop aroma. Smooth caramel body balanced with a good hand of citrusy and slightly earthy/woody hops. Best of the ones I’ve tried here.

Pint @ brewpub. Light amber color, with compete clarity. Smells of lagered fruitiness and lemon. Taste is slightly burnt malt, again lemon and bad earl grey tea. Again, a slightly lagered fruitiness in the aftertaste, weird.

Draft... GBOA ’06... Mostly clear golden ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Terrific retention. Sweet, perfumey aroma with some breadsy notes. Good, medium bitter flavor. Just short of full-bodied with moderate carbonation. Lengthy, crisp, lightly bitter finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap and Cask at the brewpub. Both were very nice, although very different. Tap is very clean lgith straw color, hoppy aroma of citrus, light pine and orange. Clean flavor with a very nice harsh bitterenss for the style. Cask is a bit smoother overall, and the malt comes through a bit more. Bitterness is toned down slightly as well. Very well made APA that has lots of hops and a surprising bitterness.

UPDATED: JUN 28, 2006 on tap-pours a creamy to rocky, offwhite head that laces. Aroma was undetectable. Taste is malt, then hops with a slightly bitter hops finish. Nice.

6.25.05 Garden State Brewfest. An APA that claims to be an IPA and isn’t really at all. The hops claimed to be there didn’t really show up as promised. Gabagool.
