Very interesting Bitter. The waitress described as "Barleywine" like. Close but no cigar...Very dark cloudy brown (reminded me of Rochefort). By the time I received the beer there was no head left so Cna't really judge that. Nice maltly front and a fair amount of bitterness in middle/finish. Pretty complex middle that had some alcholic flavor. Warm finish. I would try this again. Derek did a nice job on this one.

2002 vintage. 8.5% ABV bitter? Hmm... don't think so. Derek, the brewer at Chandler BJs, recently served this at a barleywine tasting, and at the end of the night. This beer was huge! Rich, heavy malt flavors of caramel, butterscotch, toffee, and molasses combine with strong herbal hop flavors and bitterness. Intensely sweet and bitter at the same time, that is, there is obviously a ton of residual sugars in this beer, but there are also a ton of bittering alpha acids from hops. Thick, syrupy body. Not my cup of tea, too intense. Would like to try again in a few years.

This is an interesting combination of bitter & sweet. You get a nice hoppy flavor w/ a sweet toffee finish & some maltiness. It was very unique. Had it on draught a BJ's in Irvine, CA.

A beer for those who like them bitter. 82 IBU'S but on the cask...It tastes like so much more. It looked like prune juice in the glass. a cloudy brown. And if there were any other flavors they were completely hidden by the overwhelming taste of yellow grapefruit juice. Unique but not that great for a malt lover.
