Wow! I am drinking the 2012 Grand Cru and its amazing. Paired it with blue cheese, candied pecans (lightly toasted with olive oil and brown sugar), carrots, green onion, (our version of a) house salad and a bbq chicken pizza. Everything about this beer is excellent! Try it and I know you will like it! Definitely $10.00 well spent!

Bursting with sweet and spicy flavor. Rich and tasty, excellent by itself or with one of BJ’s famous pizzas.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2009 On tap from the Chula Vista location: Upon viewing of the ale, it is a glowing orange yet very similar in appearance to a wit. Small formation of head that clears away to a naked grand cru that was served properly in a commemorative glass which was free but I forgot at our table as we left from dinner. I was really ticked off when I visited a week later and re-ordered the very same beer only to find out they weren’t giving away the glass anymore and it was for sale for five dollars. Anyways, my nose was delighted when a spiced and yeasty combination of clove and coriander was the initial and full aroma smell. The flavor is heavily spiced with clove, coriander, banana and orange peel tastings. Very much like a hefeweizen and still meets the Belgian standards of strong ale all wrapped up in the same drink.

On tap @ BJ’s Pasadena in a labelled ’Grand Cru’ tulip glass. Nice bready, fruity aroma. Cloudy copper color. Mouthfeel is rich, carbonated. Complex, changing flavor - starts foamy, followed by a sharp acidic bite, than changing to a spicey, Chimay-like bready maltiness with a little hop essence blended in. Finished dry, sharp, a little sourness. No lacing. I approve.

This belgian ale pours with a deep amber brown body topped by a thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is sweet, malty and spicy with a slight note of dark fruit. The flavor is very similar to the aroma. Full bodied, smooth and slightly warming.

This was really a pretty decent beer. Nice carbonation, sweet but not overly so, a pretty drinkable beer.

Mild alcohol taste with some banana, apple and slight citrus notes. I was amazed at how smooth and easy drinking this was. I am always impressed with BJ's quality.
