An Irish-style red ale with the strength of an English strong ale. Full-bodied, malty and alcoholic. Not too hoppy in order to emphasize the complex malt flavor and fruity aroma. The ruby red color hints at its rich caramel maltiness.

Draft pour. The beer is a hazed copper with a white head of foam. The aroma is faint and hard to detect. I get some doughy nuances and subtle grassy notes in the taste. Subtle sweetness. Medium body and medium to high carbonation.

4-5 oz pour on draft at BJís (Gainesville, VA location) with a Mustang Sally yelling DCLawyer. Clear golden amber with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, malt. Tastes of citrus, floral notes, malt, stone fruit. Medium-light body with a dry finish.

Pours a clear reddish amber color, with a thin white head. The aroma is slight sweet, caramel, vanilla, and toasty malt. The flavor is caramel and minimal toasted malt. You can feel the alcohol burn. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation and a slightly sticky finish.

A middling clean malty red. Pours pretty gingerhead with a slight ring of white head. Very clean with forward caramel malts. Hides its ample alcohol well, with the fuel hitting the engine long after the swallow, evidenced by a welling warmness after a few swigs. Well done.

Sampled on draft at the Frederick MD location this beer poured a red-caramel color with a medium sized creamy yellow-white head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was faintly malty with a bit of caramel. The flavor was toasty malts, a hint of tobacco, caramel and a bit of vague fruit. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

A very well-balanced red if you are not a fan of hops or malts. A dry Irish red that accompanies food very well.

A nice "red" to chill out on. Iíve had both, tap and bottled and theyíre pretty much the same with a lovely, rust color and a refreshing flavor.

Big full bodied malty red ale with rich hints of caramel and toast. But the booze really comes through on the finish and they just need to dial it back a bit and let the malts shine through.

On tap at the Fort Collins location. Dark orange to amber and clear in appearance with a diminishing white head. Mild aroma of fruity esters, toasted grain, caramel malt, and light toffee. Similar flavor, moderately sweet and lightly bitter with a medium plus body. OK.

Had this with a brewhouse burger at BJís. The first few sips were creamy caramel and smooth. The alcohol starting coming out about halfway down. Pleasant level of carbonation. I really enjoyed this with my meal after a week of hard work, but there was nothing extraordinary.
