markwise (257), Orlando, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2008 This beer poured a reddish-amber color with the aroma of sweet malt, with some mapley sugary taste as well. The finish is good, sweet, and does not linger. All in all pretty good.
punkeedo (363), San Antonio, Texas, USA Aug 18, 2008 2008 Tap. Likely one of the better beers at BJ’s, this is one worth having several times. Not in one night, of course, due to the strong ABV. Aroma of apples, lime, and honey. Bizarre, but interesting and appetizing. Appears amber-read with no head at all. The flavor is of nutty malts, alcohol, and a light sweetness, all co-mingling quite comfortably. This beer is very comfortable in its own skin, sharing characteristics of some of the best Belgian ales, as well as some of the best Irish red ales. Very good. Praetorian (42), Los Angeles, California, USA Aug 15, 2008 Dark red in color with an average head with good lacing. The aroma is hoppy with a somewhat fruity undertone. The flavor is of hoppy with notes of dark fruits. syrupy in texture. Not a bad brew, but certainly nothing special. dwyerpg (2032), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Aug 13, 2008 Very light aroma, not malty This is not what I like. It has too much malt up front, the the hops come,, but really it leaves something in the back of my mouth that I don’t like. Maybe a bit fruity. carboloader (300), Houston, Texas, USA Jul 30, 2008 Pours transparent amber with no head to speak of. No aroma. Flavor is caramel malt and otherwise on the side of a brown ale. No bitterness. Sweet caramel finish. An odd beer, but easy to down. Alcohol present on the finish. RunDWP (140), San Jose, California, USA Jul 27, 2008 Updated: Jul 28, 2008On tap at BJ’s Brewpub in San Jose. Reddish brown color with slight head. Roasted malt flavor, a little nutty, and a dry hop finish. Solid ale.
