UPDATED: MAY 20, 2012 Pours a copper color with a red tinge. Aroma of hops and mildly fruity smells. Taste is creamy for a red and leaves a slight lasting film after the swalow. A slight tinge of sweet caramel in the aftertaste. Overall a drinkable beer that I would order again.

Not very red, but this has a very bold and unique flavor profile. Malts come through well and blend nicely.

The best of bjs regular beers. Not much smell, but pours an amber color. Malty taste, and great finish. Had on tap.

draft... deep dark mahogany, nice tope head... this is one of their almost drinkable beers, most reds are too malty and generic but this is pretty balanced except for some tea on the finish

Actually in La Mesa, but Chandler seemed to have the most beer ratings, so I went with that.
Poured from a draft into a pint glass at BJ’s Restaurant in La Mesa, Calif. Color was reddish copper, almost mahogany. Probably about an inch of head. Reddish brown lacing that stayed on the top throughout. Also lots of film that lasted on the sides.
A bit disappointed with the smell. It took awhile to find anything, and once I did it was a pretty average copper malt.
Tasted of toffee and fruity malts. The toffee and caramel dominated the front, while the fruit (cherry/plum) came in late.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Butter finish.
I liked this beer, probably more than the Piranha Pale Ale. Smooth and balance led the way.
