On tap @ Chula Vista location: Poured a glowing yellow with white tint and a thin layer of fluffy head. The nose is spiced with coriander and true aroma of a witbier. Flavor is mild and does taste a bit watered down but thatís alright since enough coriander and spicy Belgian influenced yeast allow for a very drinkable beer.

The summer seasonal. The only thing that I truly enjoy about reviewing a wheat or Witbier is talking about how much I dislike it. Iím hoping this beer will live up to my expectations. After all, I paid $2.25 for a 5 ounce taster. Eh... I take the bad with the good. Lately most beers Iíve reviewed are either really good or really bad. The divide is widening. This is a wit. Itís pale, slightly hazy yellow in color with a, well, practically nonexistent head. Whatís there is mostly just a collection of bubbles that has risen to the surface, which quickly bursts away into nothingness, leaving just enough room behind atop the beer for the overabundance of carbonation to rise to the surface and take its place. Can you tell that Iím doing as much as I can to review this beer without drinking it? Cloves... mostly cloves. Banana is light, wheat is detectable, and yeast is effective, but leaves behind no noticeable unpleasant yeasty character... at least in the nose. By the way, the buffalo wontons here are freaking perfect. Slightly dry, it reminds me much of a champagne. Ick. Still, not as icky as it could be. Okay, John, try not to write so biased-ly. (Chuckling to myself.) Hmm... is that a whicper of malty sweetness somewhere in there? Possibly some bath soap crafted in some moutain spring (the kind they make for men, not for women). Okay. Now for the drink. Light cloves control the intake as the beer enters the mouth and defines what you experience about the beer from here on out. Fortunately, the beer is light enough on the palate and mouth that the cloves donít add to any other uncomfortable, resulting Wit characteristics. Itís very light for a Wit overall, especially on the palate, which actually allows you to enjoy (oh, gosh, do I dare say that?) the graininess that usually gets overshadowed by Wit-stlye yeast strains. The things about Wits, here, are actually not present. Sure, nothing too enjoyable is left behind, either, but at least all of the nastiness of your stereotypical Wit isnít present. So... where are we in this review? Iíve decided that itís not as bad as I expected. Itís not offensive. Although not visually attractive, its inoffensiveness makes up for that. Itís soft. Imagine a lemon squeezed into a silk sheet, which was then used to dry off a recently shampooed dog, and then shoved into your mouth like a gag. This is the experience. I wonít dare try to expand upon that. Still, not as bad as most Wits! (Chuckle.)
