One fabulous brew deep mahogany in color and having a blackberry fruitiness in addition to dark roasted malts in the nose, this beer’s low hop profile balanced the sweet pepperiness of my Italian submarine and the nutty, woody notes perfectly complemented the warm wholesome gooiness of the pizookie. A solid example of well-brewed brown ale.

7/21/08 On draught at the Tukwila, Wa Brewpub. Aroma is sweet caramel forward with bready roast and true nuttiness. Appearance is clear reddish copper with a well maintained cream colored head. Flavor is roast bready malt forward with medium bittering. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a medium carb texture. Overall, very good, and with excellent aroma.

Tap, crystal clear dark amber with white head, aroma of light dark roasted malt with slight biscuit notes and faint hop aroma, great taste of big roasted/biscuit combo that was clean and not sweet on lingering palate

Nutty, coffee, gently hoppy aromas. Nice lacing, white head. Mahogany color.
Grapefruit, and bitter coffee flavors in the beer, just enough to know it’s there, but not too distracting.

A really good Brown Ale, tastes almost like a Stout. If you go to BJ’s and only drink one beer, this should be in your final four to choose from.

28 July 2011, tap. Ruby brown, clear, steady bubbles. Nose is great for a brown ale. Actually more like a stout. It is a bit nutty but much more, actually dominant, is the burnt coffee bean. Med body and slightly fizzy. I really like this for a but brown. Nose is great and flavour is unique. Sugary red fruit is as big an element as ground coffee beans. Really neat!

On tap at the La Mesa Brewery. I had only a few sips of this since a friend had ordered it and she offered me to taste. It was a rich and roasty nut brown ale with a lively profile fitting to the style. I only had a very quick whiff of the aroma but it was moderate enough to know this was a fresh and well respectful brown ale. Color was a dark brown and showed small sized head. Good stuff.

Has a very dark color to it. A peachy smokey hazel nutty aroma. A very lovel chocolate covered nut body to it also. Most impressive.

Punchy on the nose. Deep bronish red color. Nutty taste with chocolate malts. Good lace. Nice and thick on the palate in the middle, and calms down towards the end with a nice easy, smooth finish.
