On cask at San Diego real ale festival. This scared me at first when I took a sniff and smelled a strong presence of oak wood barrel and undeniable whiskey characteristic. But, I fearfully threw back a sip and was instantly gratified with a strong alcohol and woody flavor that made me wonder how could this be a red ale? Anyways I calmly finished my sample and marveled at the strong oak and whiskey notes it sent to me but this is something I’d definitely need to try again to further my understanding of it.

On cask at PP Real Ale Festival. Pours red with a crisp, thin, light brown head. Smells malty and wine barrel-aged sweet. Tastes like malty, barrel-aged grape juice to me. Medium body, subdued carbonation.

On cask at the Real Ale Festival at Pizza Port Carlsbad on 6/13. Amber-red color with small beige head and light carbonation. Fruity ginger spice and peppery caramel aroma. Red wine notes come out in the flavor with minimal oak influence. Leather, cherry and grape tones as well. Thin bodied with hidden alcohol and it leans sweet.
