Much lighter than a porter should be. Tastes and feels much more like a nut brown. Not what I was expecting.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
(Growler pour) Slightly sweet, roasted aroma. Pours a clear brown, with ruby highlights when held up to the light, and no head at all. This beer has no carbonation in it after the growler fill. It seems that they did a top fill, and allowed all of the carbonation to escape. Thin bodied, with a touch of roasted notes with minimal finish. This isnít bad on tap, just donít expect a growler fill of it to hold up for even 12 hours.

Another watery mess from Bjís. Decent appearance, really tight, fine head. I think it was nitro. Body was flat. Flavorless.

Very smooth and very drinkable, wish I had a BJs near me so I could enjoy this more often.

A great porter. Creamy, nutty smell. Pours a great black with red hints. Tastes creamy smooth with hints of vanilla. Had on tap.

Sampler at Arlington, TX location. Comes dark brown with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is malt, chocolate, caramel, and a bit of smoke. Nice.

Had this at the BJs in El Paso. Porter starts sweet, but taste is then overwhelmed by smokiness. Decent, but certainly not the best porter out there.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Actually had this at the BJís La Mesa.
Poured from a draft into a pint glass at BJís Brewery in La Mesa, Calif. Color was very dark brown, just a tad bit lighter than the Tatonka Stout. About an inch of head. Tan lacing on the top. Smooth film on the sides.
Smelled of sweet chocolate malts. A tad whiff of coffee and toffee on the other side.
Taste was very similar to the nose. Tasted the chocolate malts up front, followed by caramel and toffee. Some coffee beans came in late.
Full body. Smooth and creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth and long finish.
Not a bad beer. I thought this was better than the Tatonka Stout. Iíd probably give it another try.

Dark brown pour with a small head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel. Thin bodied, with a butterscotch note that is off-putting. Not terrible, but wouldnít order again.

draft... one of their better beers, an average unoffensive porter, mostly chocolate notes
