3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Nice dark chocolate color with a foamy and smooth mousse head. Tastes like roasted barely, so the flavors of espresso really come out with this one. Similar to New Belgium's 1554, with a better aftertaste. Well done. Will buy again.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The aroma is of dark malt and coffee. The appearance is a dark brown. The taste is muddled with dry coffee and finishes of dark, dry malt. The aftertaste is blah. Overall, this beer I would not order over and over, but it would do if there was nothing better.

On draft. This was a bit of a surprise. After several really good beers I got a diacetyl bomb. There were some chocolate notes but I was overwhelmed by the butter/diacetyl.

Sampler@BJís Cupertino, CA, 31/08/12. Mahogany/coke colour with freckles of lace. Coal smoke, carob, leaves, coffee cake and butterscotch aroma. Butterscotch, coal dust hints, blue cheese without bitterness, Twiglet. Burnt wheat finish. Bit thin but some decent flavours.

On tap at BJís Modesto. Aroma of roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts and some flavor that is a little too sweet. Aftertaste is tobacco. Very much like a dry stout.

Great beer. Reminds me a lot of Guinness Draught. Very easy to drink; smooth and creamy. Nice off-white head with great lacing.

Soft palate with pleasant roasted barley character. Has a bit of those sour and astringant notes common in southeast beers.

On tap on nitro, served in a pint at the Cincinnati location. Wasnít expecting the nitro. I think thatís throwing a few raters off here. Solid thin khaki colored head. Full, but slightly thin lace. Clear dark brown color. Light chocolate malt flavor, light toastiness. Smooth typical nitro texture. Goes down easy. Light stickiness in the finish. Mild bitter sweet taste. Hint of hazelnut? Nothing really stands out about this porter, but the nitro does make it very easy to drink. Went through mine quick.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On draft at BJís, poured a dark brown color, aromas of coffee, feint chocolate, and light caramel. Flavors are the same, slightly watered down, light on the palate for a porter.
