This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

(draft 5/27/11). Dark brown color. Medium tan head. Sweet chocolate and caramel aroma, with light roast malt. Flavor of the same. Avg duration. Smooth finish with very light bitterness. Slick/creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Good lacing.

Taster at Escondido brewhouse. Looks very dark brown with a bit of ruby in the light. Poured with a mocha looking head that is retained. Smells of some coffee and not too much more. Tastes pretty thin. Not too strong of a porter at all but very smooth all the way down and mocha tasting the whole way as well. Pleasant but not a stand out porter in any way. Overall 5.5 of 10.

Draught in Greenwood. Coke-colored with a lacing tan head. Light chocolate nose, light and smooth/creamy body with soft chocolate tones and a very faint spike of noble hop. Thin body hurts this one but I do like the chocolate here, not very earthy but refined and milky.

28 July 2011, tap. Brown w/ deep red hue. Not as dark or brown as I would expect a porter to be. Big roast coffee nose. Not much else. Med body, a little watery, and faintly fizzy. Taste is coffee and some dark chocolate. Either there are faint notes of vanilla or I just really think this could make a great vanilla ice cream float. Nice.

Nitro-tap at the BJís in El Paso, TX. Served avertually black with a good two finger head that lasted quite a while and lots of lacing throughout. Has a mild roasted malt aroma with a good bit of sweetness mixed in. Taste is a mixture of coffee, toffee and a hint of chocolate. Fairly clean finish. Full body, very cream and smooth. Very well balanced.Goes down very easy. Excellent porter. At first I thought they had served me the Stout by mistake. This is a lot more enjoyable than than most of the beers they serve. Well worth a try.

Not much different then any other porter you would find, it had a nice finish. might be a little lighter then your average porter but it had the dark roasty malts you would typically find
