This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

On Nitro. Deep brown color with reddish hues at the bottom of the glass. Foamy tan head. Toasted malt aroma but not much else- this beer was served too cold for my liking and in a frozen glass. Caramel and chocolate malt flavors along with some roasted malts. Pretty nice but Iím not crazy about itís serving temp or the fact that they served it on nitro.

Nitro at BJs, Gainesville, VA. Pours a clear dark burgundy with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, dark fruits. The taste is chocolate, mild roasted malts, milky notes. Thin bodied.

Kind of disappointed in this. It tastes like a pilsner that is porter flavored. It looks really good but just doesnít have that thick porter taste that I like.

Draft - Dark roasty malts and light coffee notes. Deep jet brown with a rich beige head. Light watery roast and some coffee notes. Pretty bleh.

Somewhere between a porter and a dry stout (whatís the difference anyway, they say). Brown tinted red, creamy khaki head. Nose was big on coffee and cocoa, leading to a roasted finish that hinted a bitter hops and bitter/tannic roast malt. Fairly soft palate, creamy texture, seemed almost nitro like but I donít think it was.

Pours dark brown with a dense tan head. Good lacing and head retention. Subtle roast aroma. Roast, coffee, milk chocolate, and vanilla flavors. Medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. The finish is sweet and malty.

BJís PM Porter is a little boring for a porter although it looks beautiful. Rich creamy head that sticks around for the whole beer. It is like the head on a Guinness stout. Pour is the requisite dark. Taste is surprisingly dry -- also like a Guinness stout -- with no detectable coffee, chocolate or molasses notes one would expect in a porter. PM Porter is a miss on the style.

Actually pretty good. Rich, robust, full-bodied, mouthful slight coffee taste. Almost feels like a coffee shake.

while there are better porters out there, i liked it better than the stout (which i gave a 3.0). more flavor, roasted mocha, touch of hops. not bad."
