COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

Soft palate with pleasant roasted barley character. Has a bit of those sour and astringant notes common in southeast beers.

Pretty good flavor over all but compared to really good porters... hmm not so much. A bit thin mouthfeel, but decent burnt malts.

Pours dark brown with red hues in the light. Small cream colored head. A bit light colored for the style. Smell is surprisingly good. Heavy roasted coffee notes and some chocolate. Taste is hidden behind lots of water. Good ess this is watered down. Slight nutty coffee here, but mostly water. Finishes plenty clean just no flavor. Very silky smooth mouthfeel though...probably because there is zero carbonation. Not something to have again, but not anything I'll spit out either. Underwhelming.

On a nitro tap at the Tuttle Crossing brewpub in Dublin, Ohio. Very smooth and creamy beer just like you would expect from a nitro tap, with a very long and attractive cascade into a creamy tan head. Dark beer that left sheets of lacing on the glass. Light chocolaty nose. Huge chocolate taste, almost like a chocolate milk shake. Some roasted grains and too sweet caramel with a long milk chocolate finish. It was a little too sweet for me. The nitro was a nice touch.

Tap at BJs in Pinellas Park. Dark amber pour with a foamy head. Little bit of coffee but the sweet malt dominates any roastiness.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what I expected from a commercial brewhouse, but their bourbon-barrel stout was excellent. This porter has no imagination at all is too creamy for the style. Look, it’s okay for the situation, but not a real porter.

Nice dark chocolate color with a foamy and smooth mousse head. Tastes like roasted barely, so the flavors of espresso really come out with this one. Similar to New Belgium's 1554, with a better aftertaste. Well done. Will buy again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
