COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

21st May 2015: BJís Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. Thought this was the best of the eight beers I tried on the day. Ruby hue to the dark body, on top a lightly tanned foam blanket. Malts all the way here, fairly sweet initially it bottoms out a little drier and roasted latter in the mouth. Hides the alcohol well with itís depth of flavours. My sweet tooth took to this.

Subued aroma of malt, a great looking beer, black with well laced tan head. Bland taste of espresso, with a watery feel and a bitter finish.

[2/21/15] Draught at BJís Mission Valley in San Diego. Clear dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of chocolate, roast and nuts. Sweetish flavor, somewhat roasty, with some chocolate. Medium-bodied, quite rounded. A decent one.

Pours a dark brown with a taupe head that sports excellent retention. Faint dark malt on the nose. Lifeless mouth feel. Watery roasted malt flavors.

Nitro at BJs, Gainesville, VA. Pours a clear dark burgundy with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, dark fruits. The taste is chocolate, mild roasted malts, milky notes. Thin bodied.

Kind of disappointed in this. It tastes like a pilsner that is porter flavored. It looks really good but just doesnít have that thick porter taste that I like.

Draft - Dark roasty malts and light coffee notes. Deep jet brown with a rich beige head. Light watery roast and some coffee notes. Pretty bleh.

Somewhere between a porter and a dry stout (whatís the difference anyway, they say). Brown tinted red, creamy khaki head. Nose was big on coffee and cocoa, leading to a roasted finish that hinted a bitter hops and bitter/tannic roast malt. Fairly soft palate, creamy texture, seemed almost nitro like but I donít think it was.
