COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

Deep brown-amber pour. Creamy tan head. The nose is quite sweet and molasses-laden with a little bit of light plummy sweetness. Lots of rich caramelly malt and a soft creamy texture. As it warms the molasses flavour really comes to the fore. Soft and lingering chewiness. Really solid porter actually, in spite of it’s somewhat limpid appearance.

This is one rich, smooth, hearty porter. I’d say it stands up favorably beside any other beer I’ve had. There are tones of chocolate, coffee, lots of malt, and just a little hoppy kick at the end. I don’t understand why this beer isn’t highly rated, I think it’s really very good. Have it with BJ’s Black and Bleu Burger for a damn fine meal.

On tap at the Huntington Beach location. It pours dark brown with a cream colored head. The aroma has light notes of coffee and cream with hints of cocoa. The flavor is noticeably buttery with toffee and hints of cocoa/coffee but really light on flavor. Not a great one.

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2012 Its a porter from BJ’s. There is not much more to say than that a little weak but try to say you have tried it

Much lighter than a porter should be. Tastes and feels much more like a nut brown. Not what I was expecting.

(Growler pour) Slightly sweet, roasted aroma. Pours a clear brown, with ruby highlights when held up to the light, and no head at all. This beer has no carbonation in it after the growler fill. It seems that they did a top fill, and allowed all of the carbonation to escape. Thin bodied, with a touch of roasted notes with minimal finish. This isn’t bad on tap, just don’t expect a growler fill of it to hold up for even 12 hours.

Another watery mess from Bj’s. Decent appearance, really tight, fine head. I think it was nitro. Body was flat. Flavorless.

Very smooth and very drinkable, wish I had a BJs near me so I could enjoy this more often.

A great porter. Creamy, nutty smell. Pours a great black with red hints. Tastes creamy smooth with hints of vanilla. Had on tap. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampler at Arlington, TX location. Comes dark brown with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is malt, chocolate, caramel, and a bit of smoke. Nice.

Had this at the BJs in El Paso. Porter starts sweet, but taste is then overwhelmed by smokiness. Decent, but certainly not the best porter out there.
