riversideAK (1755), Shoreline, Washington, USA Oct 10, 2008 Hard Liver 08. Big floral and piney aroma that struck me as being almost in the IIPA range. Caramel fruity sweetness is moderate in the flavor with a touch of toffee and a long bitter floral finish. Dry and resiny with lots of hops for style.
BückDich (4603), Boise, Idaho, USA Apr 1, 2008 Tap @ Brouwers: Hard Liver: Misty orange with very little head. The nose is sharp with clove and grassy hops. Citrusy hops and caramel malts mainly in the flavor, seems a bit layered, not much harmony. The finish is dry and thin. Not amazing... Angeloregon (2023), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 26, 2007 2006. No warning sign on this barley banger outside of the monsterous floral nose. Very nicely dosed with hops and poured nicely while maintaining an equitable head and beautiful lace. As it warmed, it developed more of a cloying characteristic. I prefer this one in the beginnning when it was colder. A very nice beer.
Oakes (7030), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 24, 2007 Updated: Mar 21, 2008Hard Liver ’08
Orangey-amber colour. Orangey-tangerine aroma. Thick, boozy, orangey hops, big chewy notes. Clean, orangey...a chewy marmaladey example.
Hard Liver ’07
Hazy amber colour. Aroma shows a lot of sugars...of the standard chewy/earthy variety. Full body. Big brown sugar finish. A little simple. 5 3 6 3 12 = 2.9 glkaiser (1017), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 19, 2007 On tap at Brouwer’s Hard Liver Barley Wine Festival...6 oz glass. 2006 keg. Cloudy dark amber with good head.
