3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Rated on 02-20-2013 at BJís in Jacksonville, FL. This draft beer pours a small creamy, smooth tan head that is mostly lasting, transparent ruby body, visible carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing. The aroma is malt, chocolate and sweet. The flavor is lightly bitter, some hops, chocolate, malt, sweet, some alcohol, and it has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and thin. This beer is light-medium bodied. Overall, this beer is quaffable, but is thin textured for the style. It is worth trying.

BJís Tatonka Stout is a decent quaff but nothing special. Low aroma coming from a dark pour with a foamy tan head. Taste is chocolate dominant with a hint of coffee notes. Finish is clean. Not a bad stout overall, but definitely on the above average side.

"pretty good roasted flavors, more malty than hoppy, but NO WAY iíd believe this was an imperial stout unless i saw it for myself. body is too thin and flavor isnít big enough. not bad, just weak. too bad...AWESOME name!"

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Draft at BJís Tysons Corner. Pours black/brown with a foamy light brown head and thick creamy lacing. Smells like sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee, and syrup. Tastes like bitter toffee and burnt coffee. Light/medium body and low carbonation.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear dark brown, almost black body, small creamy nitro brown head. Nose is nicely roasty with a bit of coffee and caramel. The flavor is way too sweet with a ton of caramel and a slight burnt rubber on the finish. Medium bodied and sticky with the usual nitro feel. Not so good this one.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This reminded me of a milk stout. Roasted malt and woody aroma. Dark brown, like their porter, with a creamy white head. This had a nice palate with a smooth creamy texture and relatively low carbonation. Flavor was roasted and boozy with a hint of chocolate malt. Good and not too heavy.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Full serving on tap at the Cincinnati location, with a nitro pour, complete with descending nitro particles. They kind of linger towards the top though, strangely. Finger of khaki head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Up front, I get a lot of dark fruit flavors in the aroma. tastes kind of English or European style, versus the assertive, bitter roasty American styles. A little bit of roast still, some dark chocolate, and coffee. Syrup, light molasses flavor. Medium to bigger body. Kind of slick, sticky texture. Smooth, creamy, nitro texture to the carbonation. Moderate bitter taste, moderate sweet, just a very light bite to it, but itís reasonable for 8.5%. Solid stout. Iíd prefer a bit less sweetness, though... (itís clear where the amped-up ABV comes from). A bit more earthy hop and roast flavors, less with the fruit please.
