3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Naven (988) - Poway, USA - OCT 19, 2009
On tap, BJ’s Boulder & La Mesa. I have always said that BJ’s is the best brewery mega-chain out there. This IPA isn’t going to convert the average beer nerd, but this is a solid IPA that can also appeal to the masses.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 onceblind (1358) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 5, 2012
Clear dark gold with a small head that settles into a thin cap, but leaves good lace. Nice sticky aroma of floral resin, a touch of pine, and perhaps some lemon and/or orange. Flavor is nice and full and just as hoppy as any IPA fan can ask for. Starts nice and grapefruity with a stern bitterness, melting into a resiny pine and floral bitterness, ending floral and sticky. The maltiness is sweet and caramelly, but quiet. Quiet enough to let the hops be the star, but present enough to balance. Quite the understated IPA. Full and hoppy.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ADfan (207) - Orange County, California, USA - JAN 28, 2012
Amber color in the glass it has a an aroma of pine and malts. The taste had bitterness but not a good balance of other flavors. Average IPA.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheGB (295) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - NOV 25, 2011
Pours amber with little head. Slightly cloudy amber color. Light aroma of hops. Medium bodied with a smooth, but rather flat palate.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 bpreo (917) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - NOV 13, 2011
For an IPA, this wasn’t so bad. I enjoyed it. For a BJ’s beer, this wasn’t so good.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 nike (500) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 19, 2011
Draft, decent IPA. Not a heavy hoppy aroma, and not heavy hoppy flavor, but good brew. Balanced, some hop taste, good lacing, and hoppy bitter finish.

Not a ton of hop aroma. Looks fine. Plenty of bittering hops, especially in the finish. It’s okay but a bit nutty and definitely unbalanced by the bittering hops.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Lyncham (231) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 24, 2011
Pint, Draft, Cincinnati, OH location. Gold brown color, thin slight hay like malt, lingering bitterness. High carbonation, slick feel. A bit of a chemical aftertaste. Not the best IPA, but the best beer in the pub. I did the flight after this and the IPA was the best.
