A very nice bourbons n beer but it is very simplified, but, this honestly is a terrible looking beer. Looks like crappy root beer.. . Mild to medium bourbon, burnt brick, wooden teeth, and sweet tar .. Itís a nice beer, wonít win awards or stop me from punching children but itís nice

Draft in a flight at BJís-Florence. Pours a deep brown color with a small khaki head. Notes of vanilla, chocolate, oak, dark dried fruits, ash, earth, roasted malts - whiskey throughout. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sticky, boozy, roasty mouthfeel. Not the most elegant barrel treatment, but given how weak the base beer is, itís not bad.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a black color with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and some oak. Flavor is the same with more oak than I was anticipating, but still very good. Had a hint of warming on the finish.

Rich, dark with a distinct whiskey flavor. Rather sweet though well balanced overall. You can't taste the alcohol despite the fairly high ABV. Served in a 12oz glass (so rich, one's enough!).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at the Columbus location. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium tan head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt and bourbon. Medium to full body with flavors of roast malt, chocolate and subtle bourbon. The finish is malty with a short mild bourbon aftertaste. Decent overall.

"Iíve had this one a few times (and thought Iíd scored it) and while I remember it always being a little thin and one dimensional, it was a bit extreme. Thin body for an imperial. Smell and taste were more whiskey than stout, and not the best whiskey. Flat feel. Donít get me wrong...whiskey stouts are like pizza...a bad one is still ok. But this one is pretty tame."

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tulip on tap at BJís in Cincinnati. I think the bartender said this was around 8.7%.. Black color. Good thin light brown head. Good lace. Wood, light spice, light vanilla. Light dark chocolate. Cola. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly sticky finish. Moderate bitter taste. Lightly sour. Light coffee, little cocoa nibs. Alcohol not too bad. A little flawed, but still a reasonably enjoyable whiskey stout.
