Tulip on tap at BJ’s in Cincinnati. I think the bartender said this was around 8.7%.. Black color. Good thin light brown head. Good lace. Wood, light spice, light vanilla. Light dark chocolate. Cola. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Lightly sticky finish. Moderate bitter taste. Lightly sour. Light coffee, little cocoa nibs. Alcohol not too bad. A little flawed, but still a reasonably enjoyable whiskey stout.

Clear dark red brown colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, sweet chocolate, sweet berry, butter notes. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, toffee, sweet alcohol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130111]

Cloudy brown body with a small offwhite head. Aroma is molasses, soap, butter, bourbon. Flavor is tartness, butter soap, roasted malt, bourbon.

Clear very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, berries, light butter and notes of bourbon. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 110113

Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, wood, bourbon, caramel, chocolate and hops.

Very dark brown/red with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and coffee. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, medium sweet, bourbon, vanilla, little butter and a little bitter.

Pours nearly black with a small white head. Bourbon, green peppers, toffee, vanilla and dust. Medium bodied

Extremely good showing for a commercial-style brewhouse! Excellent aromas wafting off of this thing! Bourbon barrel up front, which I like, with all the requisite malt features on the back end. Good job.

This growler pours a mahogany color with tiny tan ring of foam. It is a little under carbonated. The aroma is muted roasted malts, some chocolate brownie and faint bourbon like sweetness. The taste is smooth with roasted malts and sweet malts running into smooth sweet bourbon booze. This has a nice balance between the beer and barrel notes. Overall the palate is paper thin on this one and it seemed like a 5% stout.

Growler pour at daknole fest 2012. Dark pour, chocolate colored head. Loads of sweet bourbon, vanilla, oak, fudge and alcohol in the aroma. Flavor is very rich and bourbon/barrel forward. Enjoyable.
