Black colored brew. Huge whiskey aroma. Smoked malty and a lot of whisky in the flavor. Nice coffee bitterness. Really a nice one.

On tap. Pours with a very deep brown body (near black) with a lasting tan head. Aromas of cola, roast, vanilla/vanillin, marshmallow and light barrel. Flavors are cola, sweet, light acidic fruit, vanilla and roast. Medium bubbles, medium to full body with a bit of light fusel.

Descent stout. No discernable bourbon, but some nice oak in there a bit. Nice stout, some maltiness, nothing special.

Back with a fizzy off white head. Tropical fruit bourbon and vanilla aroma. Tastes of lime bourbon chocolate and caramel with a fruity finish. Quite good.

[Reno]–on tap-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is bourbon, sweet dark malt. Taste is bourbon/wood, sweet dark malt-molasses, some earthy hops.

Whiskey, vanilla, caramel and wood aromas. Deep black in color. Sweet and mild stout with whiskey, vanilla, caramel and wood notes.

Draught at BJ’s. Black with no head. Faint malt and alcohol aroma. Flavor of smoke, alcohol, and roast malt. Lingering finish mostly of the barrel.

On draft at the Boulder brewpub, 4/14/06: Without knowing his was aka Whiskey/Bourbon stout, my notes say "whiskey-like aroma". Milky. Stonrg whiskey component. Very good.

This was just over the top with the bourbon. The beer is opaque and darker than the north end of a south bound donkey on a moonless night. The aroma is straight up wood, alchohol and coffee. The taste is way too much, maple, vanilla, oak, butterscotch and bourbon of course. Just need to be knocked down a peg or too.

[At BJ’s in Boulder, Colorado] A pitch black beer with a fine chocolate brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. The flavor contains notes of alcohol, coffee, and chocolate, leading to a dry woody end. The barrelaged version is slightly better than the normal version.
