2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours dark brown opaque into a snifter, but surprisingly light as it pours ... body too light for a porter. Huge fluffy brown head that vanishes IMMEDIATELY, leaving moderate lacing. Taste lacks any intensity. Moderate sweet chocolate, moderate coffee finish. Mouth is awful for a porter. Too light, and much, much too much carbonation and friskiness. Not that the mouth is awful, just awful for a porter.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Pours a deep dark brown. Rocky and quickly dissipating head. Lots o’ lace. Smells roasty and sweet.
Flavor is a weak roastiness. Slightly unpleasant bitter finish like stale coffee. Flavor is thin and haphazard. Mouth is thin. Not alot to like here. Below average porter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Any first impressions?
-A ring of foam surrounds the darkened brown.
-Distinctive earthy molasses and serene charred wood are well-laid out for the nose.
-Pleasant fruity molasses produce leveled sweetness.
-The suave mouthfeel is nourishing yet drinkable, an always satisfying feat in my tastes.
What if you dig deeper?
-Faint roastiness tickles the upper palate.
-A dry, roasty finish cuts the malty sweetness, as wooden hop bitterness and feeble fruity tartness nibble the back of the sip.
-The aroma’s more complex than the flavor profile, but both are equally enjoyable.
-This is nothing special, but it remains a very tasty, classic Porter.
Bottled; no date.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smells sweet and malty with hints of coffee. Black body with very little if any head to speak of... Tastes somewhat sweet with strong malt. Watery though. Kind of reminds me of Black Fly Stout in some ways, but not nearly as good. Not the best porter I’ve had but its okay.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This black pour smells earthy, like peat and also has roasted accents. The flavor is hoppy then followed by coffee. It has a strange finish and seems a bit watered down.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(22 oz. bottle from Lou’s Beverage Barn, bottle mislabelled as "Gearhead Ale") Pours dark cola brown with some reddish tinges. About 1 1/2" of tan head. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, weakly coffee. Mouthfeel kind of watery, tingly. Pretty good lacing. Flavor is bitterness overlaying fairly weak chocolate and coffee, followed by some grassiness in finish. Sort of sour. Coffee/chocolate aftertaste. Drinkable but not very good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks you Degarth. Pours dark brown thin white head. Coffee bigtime with dark chocolate, and a coffee bean taste, but watered down and thin feeling. It needed to be fuller but still a good tasting beer.
