argo0 (6284), Washington DC, USA Aug 31, 2007 (22oz bottle) Small tan head atop clear cola/red-black body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, cherry cough syrup, some butterscotch. Taste is moderately sweet, caramel, coffee/smoke, light cherry. Light-medium body, light effervescence. MartinT (4458), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 18, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A ring of foam surrounds the darkened brown.
-Distinctive earthy molasses and serene charred wood are well-laid out for the nose.
-Pleasant fruity molasses produce leveled sweetness.
-The suave mouthfeel is nourishing yet drinkable, an always satisfying feat in my tastes.

What if you dig deeper?
-Faint roastiness tickles the upper palate.
-A dry, roasty finish cuts the malty sweetness, as wooden hop bitterness and feeble fruity tartness nibble the back of the sip.
-The aroma’s more complex than the flavor profile, but both are equally enjoyable.
-This is nothing special, but it remains a very tasty, classic Porter.
Bottled; no date. muzzlehatch (4429), Burlington, USA Jun 10, 2007 Draught sample at the brewpub, mid-May 2007. Dark translucent brown, nope not really close to black, no head at all....light roasty, fruity nose, hints of chocolate, raisin and cherries, not bad....same infected vegetal character as the first two samples, but there’s enough roastiness to cover it up somewhat....little carbonation, burnt and dry at the finish, thin but syrupy mouthfeel. If forced to choose I’d say this was the least objectionable sample I had. kmweaver (2273), Nicaragua Sep 2, 2007 22oz bottle, courtesy of argo0. Thanks, Aaron! Looked like a porter (I forgot to take appearance notes!). Strange, bitter chocolate and cocoa aroma; a bit milky and green. Very roast-dominated mouthfeel, even a bit charred; medium feel, with plenty of dark chocolate and cocoa plus a green coffee note; mildly acrid and overly non-hoppily bitter. A bit rough. Medium, bitter chocolate and cocoa powder finish. GonZoBeeR (2028), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Sep 30, 2006 Aroma:cooked vegetable, light chocolate and coffe..
Appearance:dark brown,light head..
Flavor:cooked vegetable,light chocolate and rostedmalt...
